Author Topic: Pointless face blurring  (Read 1422 times)

I can see why some girls would obscure their face to preserve their anonymity, but why do some places use such transparent blurring that it is still obvious who the girl is if you knew her outside of her job.  Like this for instance

If it was up to the girl, she'd probably do a better job concealing her face. It's in agency's interest to show as much as possible to get a booking, they don't care much for what the girl wants.

maybe they wish to confound Google image search?

Yup, there are at least two locally in Newcastle who I've not met, but have certainly out and about. Although one has a very distinct look, so it's not hard.

I guess it's more a psychological thing. A blurred face pic is suggestive of discretion  :unknown:

I don't get it, are they notorious bait-and-switchers?

Probably not the girl your going to get. ...just enough bluring to confuse so you cant be sure its not the girl. ...and you cant do an image sherch on a blurred picture.

I thought the claim that face blurring would reduce the chance of an original image being discovered via google image search unlikely. After a couple of tests (with both a common image and an uncommon one, both prominently including the face of the individual the photo features), I can confirm that google image search can reliably match the blurred image to the original. Although the Visually similar images feature of search by image is quite flawed, it is capable of finding the original of images with minor modifications.

As for the actual reason, I'd guess that Cat Lady is correct and that the management assured the girls that their faces would be blurred in the pictures, but left them relatively un-blurred in the interests of attracting more custom.

Even more pointless blurring

The worst ones are those who will blur their face in one section, only to show their full face in another part of the same profile...

I also recall one who blurred her face on her profile, yet ended up up making a dvd for the realpunting site!!!
