Author Topic: Any apps which keep specific contacts and texts private on android?  (Read 480 times)

The risk that my Mrs could find my punting phone is small I've concocted a passable cover story for having a 2nd phone, just in case.

I use my phone all the time for work, my main phone is on a network, o2, which is best for coverage in most of my area but there are a couple of pockets where EE is all that is available, I keep the phone in my car and if it were ever to be found I can explain it OK.

I can populate with some work based texts and call history but it would be good if I could keep prossie texts, contact numbers and call records secretly within another app, ideally with an incongruous name rather than an app with a name containing the words hidden, secret, private, etc.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Update: on the face of it an app called private space seems to do the job.

You have the choice of removing the icon from the app folder and launching the app by typing a code into the dialer, which is somewhat discrete and it creates a fictitious spam like text message when an SMS comes in from one of your hidden contacts to alert you to read the real text stored within the app. The free version only allows 5 contacts so I'll try out this week (punt arranged for later this week) and see if its worth buying the paid version, I'll report back on how well or badly it performs.

Your using you own personal phone for work?

If not, (company phone, for punting?). You running a big risk using that phone, IMO.

Best phones for punting is a basic non smart phone, calls and text, no apps needed and it only used punting. Search UKP and you will find out why.

I have a number phones on the go. To keep these parts of my life different and I use, as and when required!

I'm self employed, there isn't much definition between my work and personal time so one phone for work and personal works fine for me.

I do have a smart phone for punting, but it hasn't got any social media installed, its only as I punt away from where I live or work and need to use maps often. This exercise is simply to conceal those activities so that if it is ever found then I can bluff my way out of any trouble, it won't ever be used for work stuff.

I will take a risk and will say (write) - nothing is private on Android. Google, Apple, Microsoft, Facebook and many more are watching you...

It's like in 1984...

Wouldn't life be simpler if the ladies chose plain sounding names that were not gender specific y'know like...... Alex, Leslie, Lou, Harri(et), Dav(ina) etc etc. We could just bung them in our contacts as golf buddies.

Haha, taking examples from my neck of the woods, the likes of "ginger minge xxx" and "little miss pleasure" would be too obvious in a contacts list!

Why not just put those details in a password protected word file on your phone, though I think a separate phone would be bettsr
