This was an odd one, for a number of reasons - I've given a Positive as it might appeal to some guys, though as you'll see I have reservations, and wouldn't return. I'm always on the lookout for new Thai places with extras, and saw Mai Thai advertised on Gumtree, so booked an hour in September on a weekday afternoon.

First thing is that Mai Thai is located within I assume a genuine beauty salon called Lovelles Beauty. The only notice about massage was a freestanding signboard on the pavement. It's conveniently located for transport being very close to Camden Road Overground and a short walk from Camden Tube. Parking would be difficult at any time. The place itself seems to take up the ground floor and semi-basement of a Victorian building, and I was told that the beauty treatments were done on the ground floor room behind the very small reception area; massages are downstairs. It's only been open since July. It's hardly discrete but no-ones going to care in this part of London

Anyway I'd booked by phone around midday for an hour that afternoon, no problem with comms or availability. I get there to see the woman behind the desk, she introduces herself as Beena, says she's the masseuse; now I was expecting a Thai, Beena however is a tall brown East Londoner, mid-thirtyish, friendly and laid back. She's quite large, broad-beamed with large boobs. I pay £50 for deep tissue, follow her downstairs to the semi-basement which has a large hallway off which are the facilities and one large massage room. It all feels very different from a typical Thai place.

I undress in the room, all looks clean and tidy, lie down on the table and pull the towel provided across my bare bum. Beena enters, we discuss what I want, ie deep tissue with focus of bits that are knotted and sore.  The massage is not Thai - in the course of the massage I ask how long she's been doing it etc, she tells me she was a chef, got fed up with the pay and conditions, turned to massage ten years ago and "taught myself".  The massage is what I'd call a strong Swedish, pleasant enough and enjoyable but not what I was expecting or needing.

After around 40 minutes I'm getting restless, and she I think senses this, asks if I'd like more, but all she offers is topless HR at £40. Can't be bothered to negotiate, so I agree, she takes off her top and bra, revealing the best bit(s), her large soft natural boobs (one pierced). She's happy to have these touched as she proceeds to give a competent tug, she's clearly done this many times, though its mechanical rather than sensuous or erotic, and it just about works for me.

Afterwards I get a short head massage, don't bother with a shower, and am out after 55 minutes. Have to say if a place says its Thai, it needs to give proper Thai service. Beena was nice enough and may well appeal to anyone looking for a large laid back Londoner with great boobs, but the massage & the one available extra were mundane. I've just nudged the experience into Positive as Beena is friendly & didn't do anything badly, and as I said, she may well appeal to those where the massage is less important.

It used to be a Thai place according to google External Link/Members Only

I worked around there for a brief period earlier this year. I walked past that shop everyday and it was never open. Would you say they had a re-furb recently?

What kind of brown are we talking about?

I think it changed hands a couple of months ago, Beena said they'd only recently opened, maybe they'd just had a refurb, certainly downstairs there was still some minor works going on (not at the time I was there though).
Beena was brown skinned, I'd guess from a white British + Asian + African heritage, but most definitely East End born and bred, sorry if the review was not clear, can see that it might have been taken to mean she was sun-tanned.

This place used to be called Thai Quarter, authentic and firm message with limited extras. From the new refurb didn't look like my cup of tea neither... Thanks for confirming!
