Question about punting laws in NI

After my recent post about punting in NI it sounds as if I'll have to put it all on hold whilst out here. However I did have a couple questions about the law against it that another poster informed me of.

Does the law extend to HE massages or does it only prohibit sex? Was difficult to find clarity online.

Also in terms of actual risks, I've read about some brothels being raided but is there any chance of a girl advertising on aw/vs being a police trap?

I don't live in NI so I don't know the exact way the law works

My guess is that massage might be a little safer, but you could still get into trouble

We do have similar laws in the South and so far only one punter has been convicted, it looks like the police in the South are not really targeting punters, this could change of course

In general, I think if you only see independent escorts and avoid brothels you will be ok

There is a small town close to me, and on the main street there is a flat being used by escorts, plenty of the locals know about this, so you can be sure the Guards know too, but so far it hasn't been shut down, maybe it will be soon

I've never heard of a sting operation although you can never be sure. Massage, HE, if you're happy to pay nearly a century for a wank is definitely included as a sexual service and against the law for you to even ask. But in practice it's been a rarity for the law to be applied, only 2 or 3 cases but some political fume recently worried me but still no one scooped in the last couple of months anyway. As far as we know cos the court case would take a while. Read the Belfast Massage thread on here for extras possibilities and apply all usual rules expect b&s for certain.

One last thing. Never agree to meet in public or in her car somewhere. She'll take your money and go for an Olympic qualifying time lol! And as always never pay a deposit. Good luck!

Unlikely on two counts
Firstly it would be entrapment, and that's generally barred under British laws
Secondly it would effectively involve the police conspiring to break the law, and that really would be an issue

Yeah I've noticed that the prices are astronomical. Even if I was tempted to go for it I might not just to avoid encouraging that pricing

There is a large scale brothel raid about every two years, last one I remember:

They are mostly interested in the gangs, not the punters.

Don’t worry about sting operations. Soliciting has always been illegal in all parts of the UK. So if a hooker, or undercover cop asks you to pay money for sex it is they who have broken the law.

A prosecution lawyer told the court police officers attended College Square in Belfast at around 7pm on November 7 and spoke to an alleged victim of suspected unrelated offences which were not proceeded with.

As a result McCaughey was identified and his phone was seized after which he was arrested on suspicion of paying for sexual services to which he made no comment during interview.

The lawyer said multiple communications were found on his phone with over 100 different phone numbers.

Not sure what to make of this - is this the peelers turned up maybe due to a complaint from a neighbour or maybe look into a trafficking victim, and this guy was just unlucky caught on the spot...?  Or have they gone through the SPs phone and found her last punter and gone looking for him?

Really hard to gauge how this law is being implemented in practical terms.  If the fuzz wanted to then all they need to do is sit outside Sakura etc and lift people as they want.  Or are they just lifting people when they have to be in the area and can't be seen to not act...?
