Just a guess, but more likely to be former food takeaways, or the flats above takeaways

I never thought of that as I've never been to a setup like that but it makes sense as there are thousands of these around the country and probably a better business model than an actual takeaway!

You think? I highly doubt it. Complex organised rings Chinese woman working out of random flats in every corner of the UK.

IMO much more to it all than the odd ex takeaway/flat above. You just need a glance at Vivastreet. They’re undoubtedly the most prolific organised traffickers going in the UK.
