Read the site rules. The answers to your questions couldn't be any clearer.

19 Social meets
None will be sanctioned by the admin and not be allowed to be organised on the forums.

33 Access to sending Private Messages and the visibility of Members Post history have different criteria to be gained. The criteria will not be made public. Anyone attempting to circumvent the PM criteria by requesting PM’s may receive a ban.

I don’t believe either reply has answered the OP’s question, which I read as asking if PM’s contain content which ISN’T allowed on the main forum. I think he may be actually wanting to know if PM’s are fully private between sender and recipient or can be read by mods/admin/owner

I'll answer that in a slightly roundabout way.
I once sent a PM which triggered the auto-censor filter, and from OldAdmin's response he was clearly able to read what I'd said and wasn't happy.
So you're probably better off assuming PMs can be read at least under some circumstances, even if not all

It has to be remembered that the PM facility is a privilege not a right and not everyone has access to the PM system and if those who haven't got access ask for PMs they leave themselves open to a ban. Therefore it's usefulness is limited.

It should also be remembered that the purpose of the site is to share information for the benefit of all members not a select few by private messaging. Having said that with regard to STI accusations it is impossible to prove they came from an escort unless the escort openly admits to it, likewise repeating information from third parties who aren't available to answer questions is of limited use. Both could be malicious.

The answer to the question is pretty obvious
Naieve to think that Mods dont have access to PMs
Essential to keeping control of things on here

Been going more local recently
Which you'll see from the reviews that i've wazzed up
A norf west bizzo-cum-punting trip is well overdue
Thankyou for the reminder & thinking about me

Edit:  now you mention it i did such a recent trip [not as far as Manc land]
& there's an o/s review
Slipped my mind completely
Tho there's a few in the Q & i like to let the dust settle etc

Agree, and the OP been a member here for 8 years, so I would say, he should know better.  If the op reads plenty of threads, he can see what happens when someone make an allegation about an escort, who might have an std

 :hi:
& there is the PM limit introduced, cant remember exactly when
which you dont have to be a rocket scientist to work out is to limit the scope of UKP'ers colluding on here

Offline pantywetter

The OP only seems to be asking a question and is trying to abide by the rules.  Seems like quite a hostile response chaps.

I also don’t understand the rules such as why we can’t PM more than one person in a day (how would this lead to collusion) or use a VPN.  Asking to clarify the rules and reasoning for them, without being a dick, seems like a reasonable ask.  Maybe in a thread?

Why be like that?  The OP has contributed 100 reviews and just seems to be asking a question about how the site works.

The OP only seems to be asking a question and is trying to abide by the rules.

We could look at this another way, the op wanted to know if he could talk about an escort who might have an std, in a pm to other members.  Two rules cover this, rule 25 allegations of std's, and Rule 33 with regards pm's

But why is he asking this question, so maybe this is a question for the op, does he know the rules

Offline pantywetter

Maybe I’m thick, but having read those rules again and read through this thread, I still don’t know an answer to the OPs question.

Doesn’t matter to me, but I think a friendly thread where you can clarify any rules and ask the thinking behind them seems like it would be useful.

This probably. So I don’t think they’re actively read but if you say something crazy it will probably flag up in the system and then in turn your PM will be read.

So as long as you don’t say anything crazy I would “assume” not. That’s my hypothesis anyway because I don’t know whether or not it operates like that but it’s a educated guess.

Offline webpunter

Consider the analogy of the security services monitoring communications
Dont do anything which they would be interested in & they wont pay any attention

I see it that the same applies to UKP
Draw attention to yourself not adhering to the rules on posts & maybe the mods take a look into PMs if considered appropriate
Me thinks they have enough to do without the time involved looking @ PMs
Which mostly will be dull as

There can be a whole host of rules however most UKP'ers will [edit: should] know without specifically reading these what is / are the done things & which is / are not
So in answer to 'can we talk about anything in PMs' engaging brain would be a good start

There is one already, 2 pages of it, but people don't search or read it.  https://www.ukpunting.com/index.php?topic=351038.0

Many of you will have found that you cannot send a pm anymore or read a person's post history.
It's not a site error because the criteria for having these privileges have changed.

Before, you needed to reach "X" amount of contribution to the site. It was all about numbers, not about time. This was a flawed idea, unfair to the new members and gave privilege to members who had contributed well but not recently.

Now the pm and ph have different criteria to be gained. Both of which are easily manageable and will lead to a much better and more informative site which benefits us all.
