Evening gents,

Just come to this website to make you all aware of a scam i have just been a victim of. Absolutely fuming and quite disgusted by it to be honest, and it has actually put me off of punting for quite a while (probably a blessing in disguise haha).

So it all started when i saw this ad on vivastreet, headed over to instagram to check it out and to my luck (or lack of luck) she had just posted on her story 20 minutes ago. Messaged enquiring about a punt and received a location. When arrived at said location, was sent a paypal email to transfer the money over to ( first sign of scam). Was abit hesitany but as it was a nice newbuild and the girl is quite pretty I sent the money. They then asked for a selfie of me as apparently this is normal for all her customers (second sign). After i sent the scam i get told the girl is 15 years old and if i dont want to continue it is my choice. I respond saying im not a pedophile as the age of consent is 16 in the uk. Then when i ask for a refund they send me back the screenshot of my face with big writing saying ‘this man is a pedophile going to pay to meet up with underage girls for sex’ and threatening to send to all my close people on instagram.

Save yourself the hassle and stress as i am now £70 down and potentially false news will be spread.

+1 , you got scammed and they got a picture of you. Damn that’s tough.

Not a great start, only positive is the warning for others. So well done for reviewing, hopefully that will stop someone else getting scammed

Could've told you it was a scammer when I did a bit of digging and found out the pics were from a chick in the US back in Feb.

I am not at all worried that anything will come back to me as morally and legally i havent done anything wrong. I am only posting to prevent others from going through what i have , luckily im a tough cookie and that wont effect me in the slightest even if they do try to falsely accuse me of anything, i am prepared. But on a side note thanks for all the advice gents

Im more thinking about what your friends, family and colleagues would say. Legally you are fine. Atleast private your IG for a while, so they can’t see your friends list.

Thanks for the link, kindly point out what on there you thought I was not being observant of in posting the links I did.  You clearly had something in mind by posting the correction and I've not read anything there that seems to add to what's been posted in this thread.  Anything I've missed may well have been missed by others too.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say of every Service Provider ad posted, 10% are accurate representations. 90% are not - of which half are inaccurate/old pics, and the other half are flat out stolen pics. This is overall and varies a lot when you narrow by platform. Eg on Vivastreet, I'd jump right to 90% being stolen/fake profile pics. Adultwork is better, with the outdated pics gaining share. Long as sex work remains an unregulated industry where neither seekers or providers have protection, this underlines why forums like this, SAAFE, etc are so important.

That in mind, do you want me to post up every single fake profile I come across? I often chip in and do some research when members post asking for intel, I'm sorry if that isn't good enough for you. Maybe if you were a more proactive member in the last 2.5 years and your first post wasn't only made out of self gain/preservation the outcome could have been different.

So the pics are easily obtainable.

Its a tough subject to broach if it was legitimately the above ^ person doing sex work, but I politely asked as best I could if the pics were stolen or legit and I was blocked. This could be a reasonable response but the profile continued advertising in the area, instead of being spooked as you might if it was really you. All indications point to scam/stolen pics.

Keep the content, don't delete anything. It proves some record of what happened, it won't look good with only their narrative if anything comes of this.

He was enquiring about a paid sex meeting and judging by the fact he said the age of consent was 16 it was obvious to me he thought the age of consent for paid sex was 16, I corrected him and told him the age of consent is 18.

Your comments gave me the impression you know very little about the legalities of the paid sex industry so I posted a link to the CPS website which gives the relevant details.

Quite why you would want to involve yourself and derail the thread by giving someone the impression I was wrong about the age of consent only you know but posting misleading or inaccurate information is not beneficial to anyone and, if anyone believed you that the age of consent is 16, it could lead to some very serious consequences.

If you don't understand the law don't post about it.

Even still in this day and age you cannot be that naive going on a goose chase and handing over money to complete strangers you haven't met in person.

Whatever it may be soon as some faceless person behind a screen asks for money to be transferred over alarm bells should be ringing, the fact OP even sent a photo of himself even more damning, might as well give them your passport and bank details.
