Many SPs indicate mandatory or at least preferable contact by WhatsApp. Any reason for this we know of? They ocasionally emphasise no reply to sms or other types of contact. I notice a disproportionate number of these are outcall and/or deposit requestor. They never get used by myself but just wondering, low priority is there something obvious passing me by? Not for the first time lol

I think SPs don't reply to texts because:

- they get too many with details missing and they don't want to waste time starting text message ping pong to get the basic info of: date, tike, how long, incall/outcall and what you want

- some SPs don't have English as their first language and they struggle to read English, but they can understand spoken English, so they prefer the phone

I think SPs prefer Whatsapp because of its end-to-end encryption. Personally, I don't trust Whatsapp as it's owned by Meta and they just want to gather as much information as possible about you and your friends, so they market to them. I don't have Whatsapp installed on any of my phones.

I do AW messages and texts for final arrival comms. I never book via text. I prefer to put all the required info in an AW message and the SP can then get back to me when she is free.

I’d say probably because it’s free and also it’s more simple to block numbers without adding them to contacts, that’s one of my preferred ways to text, although if you use it on your punting phone yourself, make sure you set the privacy settings as secure as possible, also it’s more secure, for the WG they can set read receipts (the two blue ticks) to off as well as sending “view once” messages and photos (if they send photos that is !!)

Maybe because Whatsapp messages are included in a smartphones data package, whereas SMS text messages incur an additional charge for every message sent.  :unknown: I am sure someone is gonna come up with a better reason than this though.  :D

100% agree with above two posts - WhatsApp is free -

Looking at my point of view I can’t remember when I sent a text from my personal phone

Hundreds of, even unlimited free texts have been included in whatever phone bundle or tariff I have had for the last 20 years.

I knew I'd overlooked the most obvious advantage of Whatsapp.

Maybe it because their mobile contract includes limited text & calls whereas WhatsApp can be used for free via WiFi or data. Also if they do run out of data, text & calls then they can pop into a nearby coffee shop/shopping centre/etc to use their WiFi to see their new WhatsApp messages.

Thanks for all that everybody, appreciated, Marty

They”re more likely to get personal details from WhatsApp.
Real name, pics, media shared.

Requesting WA comms is  a red flag for me.

Profiles which say WhatsApp only are nearly all deposit or blackmail scams, often administered from overseas.
Much easier to disguise the real origin of whatsapp messages than phone/sms messages

^^^ THIS.
Foreign SPs and maids will likely be using/issued with low value PAYG SIMs on their SP phones where SMS/MMS are charged for.   Overseas call-takers won't want to be stung by sending international phone messaging via mobile providers.  They likely WiFi to the broadband in their location or hotspot to a private phone with unrestricted data.

...as well as sending “view once” messages and photos (if they send photos that is !!)

And this is useful to them too ^^^ .  Had this from an increasing number of SPs, particularly those SPs who don't post real or face pics on their ads.

Sadly not tried to book any ladies this thoughtful or organised... yet...
Look forward to the first news report of a punter being rescued from "an establishment", car park or dogging spot via use of w3w to the emergency services.
