I phoned up last Saturday actually and got a recorded message that they would be back open on Sunday. I've been there many times in the last 11 years and found it to be a very reliable venue.

No. They were making last booking at 5pm through the heat wave. You were obviously coming in the evening. They shut on the Saturday and that was it, early closing around 5.30 when it was silly hot.
