Author Topic: Good Birmingham Hotels (for ease of punting)  (Read 1626 times)

Hi all,

If anyone can recommend a decent hotel(s) in central Birmingham that are within walking distance of incall locations I’d be grateful.

Example: If I wanted to see this girl from Lush who gets good feedback on UKP;

Where would be a good location?

I look forward to coming out of retirement after a number of false starts over recent years.

Broad St area would be good. There are several hotels at all price ranges,  Novotel, Jurys Inn (Leonardo) etc.

Naming hotels isn’t wise IMO. I’m sure they’ll be people reporting back to these establishments which could ruin it in the long term  :hi:

Yes in principle but the OP was after a hotel near incall locations so hotels really can’t control what their guests do when they’re not actually in the hotel.

Most of the "popular" hotels know generally their customer segmentation and in the case of some, with one particular in mind, this activity represents a material proportion of room income. Some places might make access a bit more tricky but ultimately as long as things are discrete it's bone fide good business!

I stayed in the Travelodge on Broad St a couple of nights ago. Ok as the chain goes but a bit of a schlep from New St station.

Did you try the short cut through The Mailbox and out the back to the canal?

You have to go up to the top floor of The Mailbox.

It’s easier and quicker to get the tram from New Street station up to Broad Street

Not sure why you go through the Mailbox ? From the station just walk up to the Town Hall, across
Paradise Circus and you are on Broad Street. 10 minute walk max..

Mailbox route handy if you are on foot and it's raining - if you exit BNS at the optimal place that also helps

Top end of Broad Street can be a bit of a trek to some of the popular incall locations.

Very close to Mailbox:

AC Hotel (Marriot).
Premier Inn, Bridge Street. Premier Inn Broad Street  (which isn't on Broad Street), is nearer to Five Ways and isn't so convenient.
Malmaison (Mailbox).
Holiday Inn Express (Holliday Street).
Crowne Plaza.
Hyatt (Bridge Street).

Many (I can easily remember 20+) incall locations <200m. Holliday Street, Granville Street, Commercial Street will have been well trodden by users of this site.
Not too far to Chinatown.
Locations around NIA (Utilita) easily reachable on foot.
Not so good for B5 (Masshouse) or Jewellery Quarter near the ring road.

Never used Lush so can't comment on their location.

If you are feeling a bit flush, the Grand Hotel on Colmore Row has just been refurbished. Not massively expensive compared to decent London hotels.

Good bar too, but Birmingham hasn't been great for hotel bar WGs in a while. Unlike a European capital I recently visited.

The downside with the bar is that you have to book at prime times.   Good atmosphere though   That said there are some pretty decent bars of all types within a stones throw so no worries if you haven’t booked.
