Ok. This makes sense. You clearly shows that you know you know more on this subject than I do   :hi:

But are you saying then for the majority of obese people there is no hope in loosing weight and turning their life around from obesity to a normal size?
I should add "naturally" without the use of surgery.
Well, he does have the word "Tren" in his name. (It's a well-known anabolic steroid among bodybuilders.) But putting on loads of muscle and getting down to sub-physiological levels of bodyfat is very specialized, and it's more complicated than what you need at the moment. Likewise, you should ignore 4-6, for the time being.

So to start, it really doesn't need to be that complicated. Trust me, I've been quite obese, and then got lean and looked great. Most people can do this. You can check my advice above. What I did is what you can do... and you can start immediately by simply by replacing junk food with healthier options, and perform a little light exercise (walking or similar). You should see some progress. Then, if you want to take it to the next level, you can start adding complexity, counting calories and macronutrients, and also add weight training. If you give this a fair and honest try, you're very likely to make big improvements, and you won't need anything extra. But if you're not making progress and are dissatisfied after a year or so, then you might see a doctor, and consider alternatives. But most people really won't need to do that.

If you want, you could check with your GP before starting, to make sure you don't have any underlying health issues. You could also get some fat calipers and a weight scale so you can objectively record your progress. You could also take a before picture, but keep in mind it could be several months before you're happy with the "after" pictures.

For now I'd also recommend skipping low-carb dieting (typically less than 50 grams of carbs/day), because it's less sustainable in the long-run. If a balanced, reasonable diet isn't working, then you might try low-carb dieting or something like intermittent fasting. For more technical info, you could follow some bodybuilding or fitness YouTube channels or join specialized forums.

OK.

Thank you for this info.
Much appreciated.
Although I must add I am not classified as obese. I am just overweight a little and want to slim down by the summer months. Preferably by the spring.  :hi:

Use myfitnesspal.

Fantastic app for tracking calorie intake and being able to set weight loss goals.
It's great for losing weight with IIFYM (if it fits your macros) pretty much allows you to eat what you want as long as you stay within your macros and calories.

It's as simple as calories in Vs calories out.

There's some good YouTube advice for low calorie dense recipes too. Greg Doucette and Remington James have some great foods to try.

Don't waste you money on pills, just eat better (more protein, healthy fats and leafy greens, broccoli etc), snack less/cut out sugar and lift weights - building muscle will burn more of your body fat. It's not rocket science but there is no quick fix, you need to put the work in. Even walking more will help. Intermittent fasting (16/8) can also be helpful too

As PP said, use My Fitness Pal to track your food. Buy a Fitbit too or use the health app on your smartphone to track steps and things.

You can do a lot by Spring. Good luck!

Hopefully, by the spring I will achieve my ideal weight target.
It's a good few months away so I have got plenty of time to slim down and I have started the first three days off on the right foot.

And welcome to ukpunting  :hi:

Depends on your own strength and the exercises you wish to perform, I would go for a range and train your entire body. Couple of dumbell handles with changeable discs can be useful, solid handles can be up to 2.5kg each.

Only way is control your diet and get some decent exercise. Portion control is the main starting objective and try to get 60 mins 3 or 4 times a week of exercise that gets your heart rate to around 130-140bpm for the hour. And be patient, small gains and you’ll get there.

Orlistat worked for me but I did have a couple of unpleasant accidents before getting the doseage right.

Orlistat works by blocking the enzyme that breaks down fats in your diet. This undigested fat then passes out of your body in your bowel movement. It is this undigested fat that can cause the problems. If you take too high a doseage that fat is an oily orange liquid which can come out unexpectantly if you fart.

The only 'weight loss pills' that work are illegal (DNP, clen etc) which you shouldn't use anyway. Rest are a load of bullshit.

The most important aspect of losing weight is to make sure you're in a calorie defecit (consistently eating less calories than your body burns)

You can pretty much eat what you want, aslong you're in a calorie defecit you WILL lose weight. Scientifically it all comes down to calories in vs calories out.

Just download Myfitnesspal, put your weight, height, age, activity level etc and it will calculate how many calories you need to eat a day to lose weight.

Orlistat works and is legal. If you are giving medical advice you should be accurate.

You are right that Calories In Minus Calories Out is the traditional formulae but it should actually be Calories absorbed - Calories Used. What Orlistat does is make sure not all the calories from the fat in your diet are absorbed.

Orlistat is far from perfect, anyone who is interested in using it should google and research the pros and cons of taking this drug before buying any.

Today was a bad day for me as I managed to side track my diet regime by consuming left overs chocolate from Christmas.
I must resume diet straight away tomorrow and try harder tomorrow.
It would be embarrassing to give up after just five days of trying.
That's not going to happen.
I must Step up and try again.
This time, I will be teaming up with a personal trainer which will be starting to work with me in my local area from 22nd January after going through our plan together. He has agreed to work with me till the beginning of May.
Personal trainers are not just good for fitness buddies, they are good to keep spirits high and motivations up so this is great news for me.  :hi:

I have gave up on any diet pills, etc. I am still exercising regularly and eating a variety selection of foods and to be cautious on portion sizes. A year on I am in good shape and my libido is stronger than ever.

I think the best diet is to not have a diet and to just simple drink water before eats, eat food slowly and stop eating once you begin to feel full.
