Anyone have any companies that they refuse to do business with? Ones that at the end of your dealings with them you said that you would tell everyone when detailed about how awful they were?

Or any that you won't deal with on points of principle?

Gone now but Peoples Energy got that treatment from me, as many poor reviews as I could leave, in the end they waived exit fees and gave an instant refund of over payments, and then promptly went bust as soon as wholesale prices went up.

I refuse to use Tesco or Sainsbury due to the " Aldi price match ads" , basically saying we have over charged for years, now we have some competition we will reduce prices.
Tesco too, for having 2 price structures, different prices for " club card " holders on lots of items.

The publisher Reach, or Retch, because they publish nothing but shit. Also, at least one of their publications, the Scottish Daily Retard, sister paper of the Mirror, has a long anti punting industry history. Glasgow massage shops have been exposed by them and shut as a result. In the past, police have acted on Glasgow red light districts, ''exposed'' by them, scaring girls and punters away.

Ryanair.

I love a bargain as much as the next person but I would never go on any of their flights. I would rather pay a little extra and fly with EasyJet or BA if it’s only hand luggage I am taking.

Not easy to avoid if you live in Essex and travel regularly to Ireland, never found Easyjet to be any better, anything over an hour or so and they all get overlooked for a proper airline. Though none are getting better.

Nike sports kit is actually really really good quality.
That's as maybe and a lot of their stuff does look quite nice especially the womans stuff on a fit girl in the gym but invariable all the airheads who like posing and people looking at them seem to wear Nike.
Given that they also get it made in 3rd world sweat shops (which many of them do) it's also typically more expensive than other brands

I’ve had a pair of Nike trainers I use for running which refuse to give in after 8 years.  Only the soles are getting worn out recently which is to be expected. Not sure how the newer stuff holds up.

I try to avoid companies that are overly political, but a difficult task.

British Gas and SSE I avoid due to terrible service.

Dominoes - told staff to pay for uniforms out off their pay dropping them below min wage
Burger King - telling staff to clock out when the shop is quiet, dropping them below min wage
Wetherspoons- telling staff to “get a job in a supermarket” when he made people redundant
Ryanair- because why wouldn’t you.

Yes it was, it was more bemoaning that furloughed or zero hours contract staff, zero hours does suit some people, would not return and take jobs in supermarkets that were still operating.

I refuse to fly Ryanair. But then again, customer service from most major companies these days is abysmal, so no point in singling them out.

I do get quite a few calls from BT for some reason. I just tell them I am VERY busy at this time, and am experiencing an unusually high volume of calls, but that the call is very important to me and I'll be with them as soon as I can.

I just leave the phone to the side, don't disconnect, and carry on with whatever I'm doing.

I seem to remember MaccyDs getting done at a Tribunal for making their staff stay on when quiet, but not paying them. IIRC they were told that as they had the staff available, on the premises, they had to pay them.

When I was regularly freight on the ferry to and from Ireland, the fridge boys told me the best Irish beef was going to France, and they were bringing carcasses back so Mcd,s could power wash the remnants from the bones.

The ads do claim best Irish and British beef.  :D

They are not popular now, but years ago all the food shops in Southend on Sea used to sell these long sausages in a hot dog roll, Through a GF I met the couple that made and supplied them, intrigued I had to go and see the factory, seeing big blocks of suet added to the mix was the end of me and a sausage for a very long time.

I don't think that they claim to make burgers from the 'best' cuts. They are quite open that they use forequarters and flanks, which wouldn't be the best cuts (but it isn't the earholes and arseholes either).
The pressure washing of meat off the bone, or mechanically recovered meat as it is known, I'm pretty sure for beef at least, has been banned for human consumption in the UK.

Yeah it was classed as inedible back in 2004 and unfit for human consumption due to the risk of BSE

Yes, it was some time ago, you can be sure that every last bit of flesh comes off the bone one way or another though, I see big bags of bones being delivered to my local kebab shop, I guess to clean themselves for the Doner, needless to say I go nowhere near it.

I did used to know someone who worked in a meat processing factory where the animals were actually slaughtered and then cut into whatever cuts were needed.
Apparently as a result of BSE the way Beef carcasses needed to be handled and processed has changed from how they were historically done, think it involved special care removing all of the spinal cord and brain etc.
From a program I saw on TV a few years back part of the problem with BSE or CJD in humans is that it's a prion protein which isn't destroyed by heat therefore even if you thoroughly cook the meat it won't kill it

Thankfully I think there were only ever a handful of CJD cases acknowledged despite people eating all sorts of infected crap before proper action was taken
The program however also demonstrated how the cases to date may be the 1st wave or ripple and that a bigger problem may still come along later, can't remember the science behind it but it's a known potential issue

If you actually spent a day in a meat processing plant you probably would not eat meat again, back in the 80,s, a friend was making very good money, buying and boning pigs heads from Smithfield market, the only thing he could not sell was the eyes, everything else had value and a buyer. Most of it was Mattesons, but tongues had a higher value to another market, maybe Chinese I cannot remember, even bones had value back then, for soap factories I think.

I worked in a meat processing plant for years and still eat meat! Many couldn't stick it though. Mostly due to working a chilled environment and the repetitive nature of the work rather than the smell, blood n guts etc. Tongue is delicious (mostly in sandwiches), so are sweet breads if cooked right. The bones would have been ground down for garden / agricultural fertiliser.
