I disagree. I made a similar point to you at the start of this thread but then read what was said more carefully and retracted and apologised to the OP. I really do not think he is coming at this from a bad place and we need to be careful that we are not always closing down legitimate discussion by being snowflakes.
Where did I say I wanted the discussion "shut down"? And do stop using the term "snowflake" as it makes you look like a petulant child.

You really do not understand the point?

People get to a point where they dare not discuss their concerns or understanding of an issue for fear of being labelled, in this case as homophobic. Similarly pre Brexit people concerned about immigration were often labelled racist and currently god forbid anyone discusses trans related issues such as whether they infringe on women’s rights.

We can too easily make assumptions about people raising genuine concerns as I did here about the OP. Hence I apologised to him.

It is not about whether we agree or not with the concerns but more not making assumptions too quickly about their prejudices etc.

The best 3 "celebrity" dancers are in the final IMHO

But it has to be said that the woke BBC must be wanking themselves silly that they have a deaf lady, a gay man, and also a black lady in the final....

Indeed. It was a trade off between the black guy who kept crying and the mouthy black woman: but black + female clearly ranks better P.R. than just black (male).

They became (rather than were) the three best dancers. I wonder how that happened?? The only other one I really enjoyed watching was Ramsay’s daughter. Scrubbed up well for a chubby.

The fact that this thread even started says everything about the OP's bigoted point of view. How insecure do you have to be to get offended about a same sex couple dancing on a prime time TV programme? :unknown:
And to give you a bit of context, I think Stricly's utter shite and I wouldn't waste my time watching it. But I also wouldn't whinge and moan on a punting forum about this. It just males people look like out of touch dinosaurs

Bigoted? Insecure? Offended? Whinging? Moaning?...Wow!
Considering you don't know me, you've made a lot of accusations, all of which couldn't be further from the truth.

I wonder whether you've eaten something that doesn't agree with, forgotten to take your medication again or just have anger management issues, as you seem to been an unduly irate young man.

I suggest you read my posts more carefully before coming out with such verbal diarrhea. :D

And since when have you been the adjudicator as to what subjects may be discussed in the off topic chat?

I notice you're interested in films & TV. Is that punting related?

I think the original post has generated some good debate in a subject that I'm very interested in, and it's a shame you've chosen to post such disparaging personal remarks.

TBH, I didn't rate her particularly.  Her attempts to act provocatively in her last dance were cringe worthy.  I think she only lasted as long as she did because of the backlash against the chubby comment.

Obviously the majority of the audience are happy with the MM duo, as they would have been voted off long ago now if they weren't.  Their Pirates of the Caribbean themed dance was one of the best of this series.

And that's the thing to remember about Strictly.  At the end of the day, it is a popularity contest, not a dance contest. Putting in the effort to get a good media presence, to get the public backing you, is just as important as putting the hours in learning the dance.  If it were a dance contest, people like Sergeant and Widdicombe wouldn't have made it passed the first episode.

The only slight concern I had was this week.  I wasn't inspired at all by their Couples Choice dance, and at times found it clunky and awkward.  The moves were all there to tell the story, but somehow it lacked feeling.  I was surprised by the marks it got, and felt that the judges held back on criticising the dance for fear of a backlash against criticising "the story".

TBH, the Couples Choice dance has never been one of my favourites, and I wouldn't shed any tears if it was dropped.  Although I thought Rose's Couples Choice dance was truly inspiring, and worthy of the praise it got.

At the stage that chubby got knocked out none of them were very good.  She seemed a sweet person, didn’t talk as if she were raised in a sewer, and was doing not bad for a chubby.

Leggy black girl has good height and physique, lots for her teacher to work with. The gay guys have developed a strong partner connection, as has deaf Rose. They’re fairly evenly balanced at this stage, but who would BBC like to win?

If deaf girl or gay guy win, it might be a bit much as the end of year face of Strictly. Ideally one of them should come in second. My personal preference would be for whoever puts in a stunning dance. I’m very critical of what they think an Argentine Tango is having spent time in B.A. Usually the judges rave over a mere caricature. But Rose did manage the steps. If they do that again it needs more passion. She looks great in a waltz but at the rate she’s going the guys put more oomph into a tango from what I remember. Yet if they do a waltz it will be charity vote, for the reasons given by Phoenix. I’m not keen on the leggy black girl. Her accent puts me off. Some of her dancing looks impressive but it has the flavour of a wound up doll, as if there’s no real person behind it..

Now more than ever, the dances selected and accompanying music are very important to enable the couples to perform to their particular strengths.

Obviously some dances like the tango can provide maximum drama and passion, particularly with the right music.
They can in some ways have the most impact.

Then the Charleston can also show great improvisation and humour.

The two lads have always excelled in their side by side, out of hold dances, showing great technique and energy.

As well as the music, this year the special effects can also add to overall performance.

Having said all that, like a good singer performing a simple beautiful song with just a piano accompaniment can be moving and emotional, so can a simple waltz, with the right music, danced without special effects, but rather concentrating on the couple's connection, technique, romance and story telling have great emotional impact.

I suppose it helps if you're an old romantic like me.

The razzmatazz is great but I hope there'll always be room for the basic stuff.

Almost certain to be one of them, now the black lass is on crutches.

The BBC is full of bullshit when it comes to virtue signalling.

Two gay men dancing together....why only two? Put a few more gay couples in and a transgender too.

One deaf lady (who I absolutely love watch dancing BTW). Why don't they put more than one contestant with a disability in?

It's all token gestures but only upto the point that the BBC feel they will not lose any viewers.

Apologies if someone else has mentioned this; I haven't read every comment, nor have I ever wanted to watch the show though countless years ago I was a background dancer on a TV Show,

But my immediate thought was what if they both get raging hard-ons?

Never the 2 guys dancing together, I'm surprised none of the 'celebrity' men don't get hard ons, dancing with the like of Oti Mabuse.

I suppose the two blokes could always dance the Slow Frottrot.

Miranda Wayland has been appointed as the BBC’s Head of Creative Diversity. This newly created role, which reports to June Sarpong, Director of Creative Diversity. I don’t know h about her except she claimed Idris Elba's character John Luther "isn't black enough."

I read that Ms Sarpong is to step down.

That's £267k a year saved, then.

Gotta love the BBC.

Siamese twins I've heard.

One's blind and gay, and the other one's deaf and self identifies as male Monday to Friday and female at the weekend.
Unfortunately they've only got two left feet between them!

Sorry... I know I shouldn't!
Apologies if you're married to a Siamese twin.
