Off topic chat section

With the lockdown coming to an end and things finally starting to get back to normal will the off topic chat section remain on this site?

I think I am right by saying that the off topic section was set up by admin due to the fact that the review and also maybe other sections of this site being abit slow with new posts as of course being the whole country was dealing with a pandemic and we have been in and out of lockdowns for over a year now.

My personal opinion of the off topic chat is that I hope it stays. It also gives members an alternative option besides our shared passion of punting  .

I don't see any reason to get rid of it as since race; politics and religion were all banned subjects the atmosphere hasn't descended into the cesspit that it used to

Whether it remains or not will probably depend on how the future workload of running the site pans out as things return to more normal.  It is the least important section on the site, so, I presume, will be first to go if admin start to struggle under an increased workload.  Hopefully it will remain.

I think this has also been helped by the current Admin team showing that they are willing to dish out bans to some long standing members who IMHO thought they were fireproof.

I would also not wish for OT to dissappear as it does have some very interesting and informative threads eg Covid Vaccine that i read avidly but rareley have much knowledge to contribute to.

..... And sometimes I find myself logging onto UKPunting to see what other members chatting about on the off topic section so it keeps things interesting.
Ofcourse UKPunting was set up as a punting forum but I do think the off topic section does have a permanent place on here too.

But ofcourse is not my ultimate decision. Its those with the powers that be with the ultimate choice over if the off topic should stay or go. I just hope that it stays.
