New Adele song, hit or miss? It will be an enormous commercial hit but is it deserved?

There’s no denying she has a powerful voice. The song will touch heartache chords. It has a couple of beautiful notes. A lot of x-factor -style warbling rather than a tune. But am I supposed to feel pain for a singer who has come through a divorce (painful for anyone and expensive for her though she can easily afford it) and not made a record for ages? Or congratulate her on her triumph?

Almost everyone can look back on a childhood and feel the world somehow treated them badly. Becoming an adult is taking responsibility instead of laying blame.

Personally i'm not into her music style so never quite got the hype about her.

Discussed her a few years back at work and even removing myself from the fact it's not my style of music and trying to be Neutral when I listen to her I still can't get what the hype is 
To my admittedly untrained ear i'm not picking up that she's a great singer or better than XYZ due to her voice being extraordinary 

This latest song is clearly Adele but I can't separate it from her other songs really, it's just well another Adele song isn't it 

I'd say she does have a powerful voice but I find the high pitch holding the note goes right through me, I can't fucking stand it 
For me I think that's what makes me not like many of her songs whereas i always liked songs that say Gabrielle and Anastasia did but Anastasia was perhaps an octave or two lower 


Not sure of the details around her divorce, has she been "Wronged" and the injured party or just singing that she is 
Needs both sides in real time to make an objective decision

I quite like it, but it's supposed to be an explanation of her divorce for her son.

No doubt it's intended to resonate with some of her fans who have had similar life events.

Neither, I think she couldn’t care less about Marmalade. Maybe she prefers jam or marmite?
Just buy it or spend it on heating your home this winter instead.  Your choice.

It's not my type of music, but Adele certainly has an excellent voice. In today's day and age of auto tune it's refreshing to her someone who can naturally sing very well. Having gone to a gig of hers with an ex gf I can attest to that. Plus Adele certainly looks really nice

It is a well oiled and hyped money making machine, lots of people making money from it. Would she be as popular with an album every year? Doubt it.

I'm not going to go and listen to it. It's going to be just like her previous efforts which held no interest for me.

But I'm not her target audience. When a bazillion yoofs buy into something and I don't it's arguable who is right. A difficult philosophical question IMO.

You'd imagine a small child would prefer his divorcing parents to sit him down and have a quiet chat to explain what's going on rather than try to interpret his mum's position from the lyrics of a millions selling global smash hit record, but then his mum probably took advice from Ms Taylor Swift in the matter.

Of course, there are always two sides to divorce proceedings, wonder if the record company are going to give the father and ex-husband a right of reply.

Not really entirely sure why some are on their high horse over this young woman. I'm no fan and found her music tedious in it's entirety but then Fleetwoodmac built their entire career on exactly the same thing from the 70's onwards.
