I don't receive but I can tell you that local anaesthetic or numbing gels are a bad idea. Pain tells you something is amiss whether it's preparation, technique, or an underlying condition like a fissure, fistula, etc. Go to your GP, describe anal pain and get an examination. If all's well then lube up and use toys on yourself to become accustomed to relaxing your arse. Use douches before any toy play or encounters where you'll be topped. I think numbing your arse could result in you getting damaged without knowing it, so best to avoid.

It's not like riding a bike.  Once trained an arse also requires use as it will "tighten" back up if it ain't used. So a well trained arse shouldn't hurt. That said the first few times my arse got fucked it hurt like hell. I also find if it ain't been fucked for a while it can also hurt a bit till it gets used to it again.

This might sound like I am turning this into a health advice discussion...

But if I can plan in ahead, I try to be almost a vegetarian the day before, and not eat too much... and personally I find things like red meat harder to digest, and it affects the toilet trip the day after.

And then during the session, I would ask for a generous amount to poppers... it’s supposed to help with the relaxation, but I enjoy the little high it gives... and just mentally it makes me more prepared.
