I always like to be clean when visiting and always try and take a shower on arrival ,but should my time in the shower be taken into account against  time paid for

depends on the punt. the cheaper ones tend to include the shower time in with the punt but longer punts that are more costly may accommodate 10 minutes for you being in the shower. if you're that worried about it id recommend showering before you leave or go with a longer punt where it may not impact as much if its eating into your precious punt time

As op has said, depending on the sp, some will offer one sometimes before the punt and again after, if your a regular then I find they usually don’t take it out of the booking, some will not even offer one at all, best way is to shower before and you know your clean

Same here, also freshly washed clothes, bit of quality aftershave and fresh breath.
I went to Indigo Nile, they insisted that you shower no matter what, but that didn`t eat into your punting time.
I`d just ask anyway, some may insist on a shower as a time wasting trick, just like giving you a massage .

Another classic time-wasting ploy is sitting you down in the living room with a cup of (usually very hot) tea for a chat. I just excuse myself, retire to the bedroom pot of tea in hand and jump in the shower. By the time I've finished the tea is ready for drinking and I'm on the bed ready.

Top tip - after the shower, sneak into her bedroom and put the clock back half an hour.

I get scrubbed up before setting off but some ladies seem to insist you shower on arrival irrespective of how clean you already are. In my personal and fairly limited experience the ladies who just accept that you are clean and get on with things usually provide the best punts. In terms of timings..... If you are clean but she still steers you towards the shower I expect that few minutes to NOT be part of paid booking.
