Carvath must be wetting himself the cunt, he was taking pics of punters and posting them online going in or out of Sandys.
I assume he is the "journo" mentioned, I did read his open letter to GMP some years ago published on his blog saying he was working with a local neighbourhood group near 1 of Sandys brothels.
And yet it is interesting that apart from a brief update to his blog in Dec 2016, a month after Sandy's was raided, he is not apparently rejoicing and is remarkably quiet on the subject? Probably because he knows his campaign had little to do with the decision to close and prosecute.
Campaigns against Sandy’s go back over a decade without success
External Link/Members OnlyRichard Carvath’s lengthy campaign against both the parlour and GMP and which included freedom of information requests and complaints to IPCC, ended in failure in 2014. A more level headed individual may well have succeeded, after all, much of his ramblings were legally valid.
However his time has gone and he has moved on to pastures new and equally as strange.
Perhaps much more powerful forces than dear old Richard are at play here?
This was scheduled to be a ten week trial with serious money laundering charges against multiple individuals. Potential large yields for the public purse? About a week into the trial we are told that "
following legal arguments" all charges are dropped bar the brothel keeping against just four of the accused. Guilty pleas entered. No jury needed and simple sentencing follows. POCA recovery seems small in relation to turnover? … but we don’t know what deal was done and more importantly why?
One hell of a turnaround? A cock up maybe .. or the defence had a trump card?
So now the Police and CPS need to reconcile why closure and prosecution finally occurred in light of the now well published terms of the Police Tolerance Policy and lucky old Richard gets the credit … thus killing two birds with one stone should someone more rational than him ever reproduce his ‘investigative journalism’.
If this was in fact all HMRC driven, then blaming local campaigns acquits them of responsibility for closing down a multi million pound business to little avail and which it seems was actually paying a considerable amount in taxes!
The final irony is that there is now another parlour opened at one of the previous two premises?
You couldn't make it up really.
