I've found it's better to come around the back streets and you just cross regent over passed the McDonalds and then you're ok.

Regent Road is indeed a nightmare. If you're coming from the m602 going towards the mancunian way I find turning right down goodiers drive is quicker. With ordsall Lane closed at sainsbury you can no longer cut through there either heading towards Mcdonalds. Good advice is to use Google maps and it can give you a rough estimate of the congestion time.

Same was around there the other night and could see the traffic backing out of the underpass about 11pm!

Good idea using the rat runs although tried to go trafford way and got stuck in a 2 mile one lane reduction in the area!!

I'd forgotten about the roadworks to be honest as I try not to venture into Manchester City Centre but I would estimate that coming down Princess Parkway and the Mancunian Way onto Regent Road added about 20 minutes to my journey and this was on a Sunday afternoon.

Tram/bus/train to all of my punts within Greater Manchester.

I mentioned this before, but if you are coming off the M60 and M602 into Manchester, consider parking up at Morrisons in Eccles , get the tram around the corner straight into the city centre, about half an hour and less than a fiver for a return ticket.

In fact, if you are on a city centre punt, probably be cheaper and quicker to park up at a tram stop a few miles away and jump on that.
