That doesn't mean the area, specifically the one in question isn't rough still. Some parts of hackney are "up and coming". Many wealthy people live in those parts. The shit holes are still shit holes. I was there today, generally Hackney doesn't bother me, but that's me. It's easy to tell the rough parts of town which currently remain will continue to do so no doubt.

The phrase "you can't polish a turd" comes to mind. There are many wealthy areas need North London, but generally they are surrounded by the roughness.

Hell they "regenerated" Broadwater Farm a while back. Still a risky ass place to go at most times of day. Bus drivers still make detours/excuses to stop going nup there.

As for the comment about losing your life, may have been a bit OTT by the poster, and for people not brought up in these areas i guess it can seem scary like that.

There's a whole other threads worth of comments I could make about Londons gentrification. But this isn't the place.

That area is one of the few places in hackney that have not been gentrified at all. It's a proper shit hole you should come and look for yourself lol

Hackney has been in the process of gentrification for awhile now. That said, it doesn't mean there are not rough parts. But, slowly but surely, where the local crack dealer on the street was is now an artisan ice cream shop. The old vacant den is now a boutique hairdressers. Dalston has been one of if not the #1 area for property price increases in ALL of London!

Well Unless you count off every bus off the timetable......

I know the farm very well. I also know that bus drivers don't want to go through it. I also know that last weekend a late evening bus didn't go through there continuing straight down the avenue.

It's safer then it was. I have no problems there. But it's a scary place for anyone not local. I once took a "G" from another area down there to visit someone. His attitude changed quick.
