Yes its been mentioned many times
The consensus is that they're virtually all Chinese, with maybe a bit of mixed blood in some of them.
The probability - though unproven - is that they're illegal immigrants trafficked by Snakehead gangs and are forced into the job to pay back the smuggling fees. Certainly that's proved to be so elsewhere in the UK. Its easier work than cockle picking
