Was very keen to see this lady so when I saw she was in Euston I thought I'd take the plunge.
So earlier this week I tried calling but to no avail. Within a couple of minutes of me hanging up I received a text asking if I wanted to make a booking. We arranged a meet for a couple of hours later as it was going to take me at least an hour to get to her location (the Ibis Euston).
Half an hour before we're due to meet I receive a text from her apologising but she was going to have to cancel. Unfortunately I didn't see the text until a few minutes before we were due to meet. No plan B so off home I went feeling quite miffed.
Thought I'd give her the benefit of the doubt and tried for a second meeting (using a different number). Same drill with not answering the phone but responding immediately via text. I headed to the Ibis Euston, arrived 5 minutes early and texted her as she'd instructed. She responded almost immediately with her floor and room number. I am at her room door within minutes. Knock discreetly, no answer. Knock again, this time a little louder, no answer. Texted her telling her I was there, no answer. Try knocking again, by this time I'm feeling quite indiscreet and exposed. The meet should have started about five minutes ago so I send a couple of more texts (non-threatening, I might add) and try calling, all to no avail.
Tried for another 5 minutes but then I give up after the third hotel guest has walked past me and I notice the security cameras. I head out of the hotel and text her saying that I'd tried knocking several times and was now waiting outside the hotel and if she wanted to cancel our booking to let me know. I waited for another 5 minutes by walking slowly back to Euston, by now I should have been 15 minutes into the meet so I decide to call it a night. Half an hour later I get an apology text telling me she'd had a problem with the hotel. Might be true but considering the run around I got a few nights earlier I just don't buy it.
Disappointing as I was keen. At least I only lost time and some tube fares.
