didn't make up for the very painful journey
A little off topic, I know the feeling (journey times)
Even though I've traveled thousands of miles via car, bus tube, train and on foot, all on route to or for a punt. It still bugs me what a mare traveling can be

I do a 10 mile drive often and I follow a route I've learned over time. It takes me 20 mins without traffic and 30 mins with some traffic.
I had a good punt not so long ago, it was 16 miles away. But took me 1:30min of driving

I turned on the tunes, set the climate control and drove. I punted for the hour and then spend 1:30min of driving back.
Would I visit that W/G, I like to, but only when there limited traffic on the road. Due to the journey being a total mare
Its just silly, around some places on London. Some borough with 20 MPH limits, camera trying to catch you out (not just for speed). Bus lanes and the London cycling superhighway (LCS) have slowed down the flow on the roads IMO.
I remembered speaking to some one about a car, that they had given up because of the LCS. Now I know why
