Author Topic: Are Girls Generally More Attractive These Days  (Read 2118 times)

Offline Mr Garmin

I'm a member of a FB group for a company I used to work for in the 80's and occasionally someone will post a group picture from a Christmas party or similar and I'd look at many of the girls in their late teens, 20's & early 30's and very few of them are particularly overtly attractive despite their age.

Now I know that there were a few that were good looking because I remember fancying some and did manage a few conquests at the time.

This was an era of Vosene (paint stripper) hair and acne and makeup was virtually unheard of outside the party environment.

Of course cosmetic surgery was also unheard of and pretty much reserved for film stars.  Tattoos weren't a thing either, even on men.

In these internet days girls seem to be much more aware of there looks and how to make the most of them.  Of course there are still plenty of obese munters who don't bother.

Am I correct, or is my age showing?

Offline Vice Admiral

In my opinion, yes.

I regularly watch Newsnight and The Wrap on Sky News.  Again and again there appear young women in their late twenties or early thirties – commentators, journalists, even political figures – who are as stunning as film stars.

OK, there were fewer female presenters and journos three or four decades ago.  Nonetheless, even proportionally, there was much less glamour.

It kind of makes sense.  We live in an age where most of those who don't blight their lives by eating, drinking, smoking and drugging too much live into their nineties.  It would be surprising if that "health dividend" were not reflected also in female beauty.

(Although, oddly, most men are still plug-ugly...)

Speaking from almost 70 years' experience with strumpets including living with one when young I don't think they've changed much except for the tattoos and that there are more overweight women now. But I believe sex education is better now so the young know a lot more about the realities of sex than they did years ago.

As above, due to poor nutrition, many females (and males), have become complete porkers.
Which I can not see as attractive  :hi:

Offline Maxfun

I think the prettier ones have become a lot more prominent with better makeup, hair, fitness, etc.. fashion definitely plays a part.  So to me there are probably the same number of attractive to not but the attractive ones look better than ever.

Offline bigden40

I also think that as you get older youth itself becomes more attractive.   So a 25 year old that you would have thought plain when you were a 25 year old yourself seems like a cracker when you're 60.

I certainly think that's the case but when I look at photos from the era there are very few I'd say 'would' to even today.

Also couples paired-off very quickly and the girls left the company to have children soon after.  Perhaps the good looking ones were off the market quickly to have a family leaving the less attractive ones behind.

In the 80's I didn't know a single person that went to the gym, although they did exist but not in the numbers they do today.

I do think the average woman can be made to look better these days with the wide choice of makeup and the fact that it can be  tailored to the individual
I dont think there are as many unattractive faces around in general and certainly fewer in the public eye
For example take the former Prince's  2 daughters Beatrice & Eugenie pretty plain looking but a good make up job - and they can afford it- and they dont look half bad
YMMV and it might be I'm drinking  more wine these days

They're certainly more attractive to me.

When I was young I probably only really noticed the pretty ones.

Over the years I've realised I can find something attractive in even the plainest of ladies.

There are exceptions of course including grossly overweight and the trendy pout lips etc.

The other big change in my lifetime is becoming more familiar with the faces of women from different races in everyday life.
As a young man that was quite rare.
Now I can admire such a wonderful range of features and also mixed race beauties.

Offline Munter84

Notwithstanding the increased BMI these days, and some hideous trends like inflated lips and septum piercings, I actually do think women are more attractive now.

I remember looking at pictures of everyday women from the 1940s, 50s, 60s, and in some group shots you'd be hard pressed to spot one looker among them. Even accounting for the lack of makeup, and hairstyles that to them would have been fashionable but read as "frumpy" nowadays, the average woman of my grandparent's generation seemed to be much more plain and rectangular than the equivalent average housewife you'd spot walking around Adsa in 2026.

I'm certain this is all biased bullshit as surely the genetic makeup can't have changed radically in under a century.

Offline Mr Garmin

Perhaps it's immigration, no no, hear me out.

Maybe the traditional 'British' woman is not what we may consider attractive, as portrayed in pictures from the early 1900's.

After WW2 there was quite an influx from EE, in particular Poland.  Now while this was nothing like we see today it was greater than we often realise.  I've never been that far east but people I know that have tell me that there's not a munter among the women, an exaggeration of course, but look at the ones that are coming here to work in the escorting industry now.

Perhaps our genes have have altered over the last 80 years or so?

Yeah too much tattoos is a big turn off for me, don’t mind fake tits and trout lips but it’s all depends if it’s done right.

Offline Jazzy99

I think it's a lot to do with better pictures, touch ups and filters. When back in the day, you would need an entire team of stylists and professional photographers to make a girls photos look like a model, nowadays all you need is an iPhone/ filters and AI to give the same look.

Offline Mr Garmin

I don't agree that this is the reason Jazzy.  Yes camera technology has come on in leaps and bounds and we all have an HD film studio in our pockets but IMO that's not it.

I mentioned on another thread that I recently attended an event where there were thousands of scantily clad young girls.  Now, I know that I'm old but it seemed to me that every other one was a stunner.  Perhaps it was a self selecting group?

I stand by my original statement that in my 80's world the girls were just not as overtly attractive as they seem to be on average today and they were definitely not as promiscuous.

No I do not agree that Girls Generally More Attractive These Days. It’s largely an illusion. Your idea of what looks attractive constantly adjusts to what you see around you. Look at women from 30 years ago and you’re judging their hair, make-up, eyebrows, clothes and general appearance through 2026 eyes, not 1996 ones. Back then, your brain was tuned to that look and it looked completely normal and attractive. I still lust after a girl I "knew" when I was 18. If she was 18 today she would be in with all the style hair and looks of the girls today and still be a stunner. We haven’t suddenly evolved better-looking women in 30 years. We’ve just moved the goalposts. On a personal level though, I would say we have gone backwards. Tattoos, fillers, the manification of women trying to look and act hard like men, saying "bruv" and "Bro" to other girls and speaking some custom Jamaican Patois spoken with a Home Counties English accent.

Best punt I ever had was 20 years ago with a 21 yr old and at that time she was stunning. Saw pics of her a while back and thought "blimey, not as stunning as I recalled". However, clean skin, natural very night b cup pert titties, acted like a lady, dressed well, spoke well. She was and is a million leagues ahead of the etchasketch dimwits we are confronted with these days. Fuck I'm getting old.

The 80’s is more conservative back then, maybe something to do with religion might be the reason. I can see around the late 90’s that it got relaxed and fashion has changed afterwards.

To me Women are more attractive in the 90’s and 2000’s because less overdone tattoos and overdone plastic surgery, Less is more.

On the one hand I think that era was a bit unforgiving to women because as you say the standards of dress and make up often did nothing for women.

I think young women now are even better looking than 25-30 years ago though.  In London you've a lot more women of mixed heritages that has benefited their looks and bodies, I remember the 90s and a lot of Indian descent and even black women were quite shapeless and plain.

Even white British women are thicc now.

Conversely I know of women who were a bit ample in their 20s and 30s and just *suited* it (and it was enjoyable in bed too).  Now in their 40s they're all gymming it off and look plain and shrivelled  :scare:

One of the things I like to look at if they flash up on the socials is look at the night club pictures. You know the ones - some bar or club has a roving photographer who snaps pictures of the party people. People done up to the nines, all the make up on, the club clothes, and I've noticed each time that of all the people in they show very few of them are fuckable. Now if you are there in person half cut and horny youd fuck them all, But the even if you discount the horrendous fillers and tattoos crew, and the ones with Sharpie Eye Brows, and the pin and bolts and extensions with the plastic part sticking out, you see a load of typically ugly british birds no different from the ones from the 80's 90's 00's etc. A group of 20 girls only one of them will be in the 8/10 + range. 1 in 200 would be a 10/10. About the same in the 80s 90s and 00's although we were more forgiving then, and the ugly birds would open their snatches for normal blokes. Now they all seem to think they deserve Cristian Ronaldo, when when they look like shrek

I work in central London, I'm surrounded by unis - UCL, SOAS, Kings, UAL etc. I see a bazillion women a day and acres of flesh.  The chances are much of it is not British.

I had a night out in Romford recently (waaaaay!), plenty of young British girls getting hammered but also tons of podge and bad dress sense and all the idiocy you mentioned above.  Then two African 20 somethings in microskirts would walk in and blokes were very hush.

I was thinking about this the other day and I know blokes in their 40s who've done terribly in the women stakes because they want 7.5 out of 10 plus for looks, brains, solvency etc. and they sure as fuck don't mirror that themselves.  You see blokes in their 20s walking around with all sorts, women with huge waistlines etc.  That never would have happened before.

Younger people, Romford and Croydon aside, don't really do "nights out" now so quite often the birds you or I would be  :yahoo: at will be at home this time of a Friday night cooking or chilling.

Its a shame really and god knows how they will be when they are our age. Certainly won't have the stories to tell! I'm in a band playing regional pub and in general its just blokes out listening. But in other venues one where i play solo weekly,  you get the girls in who are typically a few friends actually daring to venture out for a night. If I could be arsed I suspect I would have a chance with some of them, as the young lads in there in their 20's act like nervous kids a school dance.

One big factor is the ubiquity of camera phones now - would YOU want to be that bloke in the meme of the bored chat up girl? I mean, sure we've all crashed and burned while pursuing a bird but no one recorded it for all time. That and even when young people go out they tend to be glued to their phones.  Screen culture not street culture.

Gyms are the new discos  :dash:

My work trips out of London are less frequent now but when I do manage to catch a few drinks in a city centre I notice the drinkers are older and packs of men.  When you do get women it's in mixed groups, often students and some of these are jaw dropping compared to how I remember.

Of course, I can remember being single/less attached about a decade ago in London and you'd sometimes get groups of unattractive colleagues out trying to snare a future husband, sapped your energy having to tak to them.

Another good indicator of women's looks is barmaids, across all cities I would say these have improved a shitload (having fucked a few when I worked in pubs I'd happily swap eras).  They have to be there so there's no hiding for them.

Surprised not much mentioned about clothes?

1. Leggings can look stunning with the right figure and age. Well it does not look as great on a Big BMI chavvy woman?
2. On X (was twitter) stunning women hardly covered by pieces of cloth strutting around in heels. Not really reality?
3. Whatever happened to stylish female suits and dresses?
4. Tailored trousers and elegant tops (no tattoos please) can look exciting.

I think clothes, how you were them and how you comport yourself can make a big difference.

In my case it’s because as I’m growing older I’m growing uglier. So lasses look better 😂

1. I'm frequently astonished how some 45+ black/mixed race can present an epic rear in the right leggings
3. Saw a bird earlier in a suit jacket, wide open white blouse and zero in the way of bra

I suppose to some extent it's about why and how women carry themselves off.  20 years ago I was pleasantly surprised to take off a trouser suit to find stockings and a basque underneath and when I asked why she said "Well, I know it's there even if no one else doesn't."

My 1st post on this thread but I did previously almost mention clothes, can't remember exactly when it was but i'm thinking early 90's there was a fashion phase where seemingly 90% of girls were walking around dressed looking more like blokes
Trousers which were grey or black and black Doc Martin style shoes, can't remember tops so much but again drab grey colours.

I remember at one point thinking that i'd not seen an attractive girl out and about for literally weeks and that they all looked like clones, my GF at the time was complaining that she couldn't find anything nice to wear when she went out shopping
