I’d have to disagree with OP on the state of the  room / flat, when I visited a few weeks ago the room was fine, sparsely furnished for sure, just the bed and a few chairs, but clean & bright, no comparison to Linda’s place in Bayswater which along with the basement of San Ling Swiss Cottage were the two most disgusting places I’ve ever punted in.
