In my opinion , yes.  Calling someone a slag is a lot more derogatory/personal than calling them a whore.

Language is subjective, folk will have their own view. Imho whore is less derogatory that prostitute. Slag conjures to me a really rough fat smelly old tart. With Slut I immediately think of young woman who likes cock, Escort seems to be too respectable. So I intend to keep whoring

Of course I respect sex workers , if you knew me, then you'd see that. And if you were to ask anyone I have paid for sex, they'd tell you the same. As I said language is subjective. Folk use different vocabulary.
