External Link/Members OnlyTL;DRDeposit paid then ghosted and blocked.I've been hoping to meet Maya from way back 2 or 3 profiles ago. It's easy to see that she's visually appealing. Her and I have had a lot of back and forth over a long period of time but her (well reported) flakiness prevented anything from happening. I was happy to persevere because other folks here had gotten lucky eventually.
She doesn't advertise a number anymore but from some years back I had her on instagram, which is where we were communicating. After a failed attempt on Wednesday to get together, again due to her deciding to simply not reply (without explanation), I tried again last night. She messaged back to say she was up for it tonight. There was some back and forth about sending a deposit and I expressed to her that I really didn't want to do it and felt that I didn't need to because my positive feedback on adultwork should be enough to indicate that I am legitimate and not a timewaster. Ultimately it was a game of chicken and her general lack of responsiveness had me thinking that if I pay the deposit maybe she'll actually enagage more. So, after we agreed to meet last night, I said 'I can meet you in 30mins. Once i get to WP station, I'll message you say I've arrived, and then you can give me the address", which was supposed to be a 6/7 min walk away. She acknowledges.
I get to the station, message her "I've arrived", she says "great, send me the deposit and I'll give you the address and my phonenumber".
I send the deposit, £40. Nothing. No response, no nothing. I went for a pint to give her time. I actually expected that the worst case scenario is that she would make me wait an hour but instead she just didn't respond at all. I sent her a couple of messages and although I kind of wanted to call her a c*nt, that's not my style so I kept it civil. No repsonse back. I then kind of expected to hear back from her today or maybe even tomorrow to say "Sorry my unicorn ate my homework" or some such nonsense but instead she's just blocked me.
I wouldn't say 'lesson learned' exactly because I knew there was a fair chance I would get fucked over and I was happy to take the chance. Luckily it was only £40. I think if it were anymore I wouldn't have paid it. I thought that the fact i was paying the deposit literally '6/7 minutes' before we're due to meet would maximise my chances of actually securing the meet. Also, I really didn't expect the blocking afterwards.
Summary: Fuck her, she's a thief. Based on the fact that other folks had eventually met her and other folks had paid deposits, I thought I would meet her eventually. I expected her to be the most flakey, unreliable, inconsistent, worst possible comms WG to exist. I did not expect her to actually rob me like that.
