What a mess.

Nice and windy and sunny at the moment so great for renewables plus the outside temperature has warmed up, I believe 16 degrees C is the optimum as it's a few degrees warmer inside and at this temperature people aren't cold enough to want the heating on and aren't too hot to want the air con on 

Renewables currently at 48% which should increase a bit as the sun gets a bit higher and solar goes up, 53.7% for the last 24 hours and 51.6% for the past week

Imagine if we had more of this stuff and were able to store the excess for times when it's not so windy and sunny, i'm wondering how long until we have a day where we produce 100% of our energy from just renewables and Nuclear  Probably over a decade away but it will come

As I predicted renewables have gone up and currently stand at 62.5% of generation with wind at 42% and Solar at 20%, early April in the UK and 20% solar

It has been very windy here in the "East" the past few days. So I decided to investigate having a wind turbine. Planning rules seem to be stating that in many cases you will need planning permission, and in the cases where you don't (permitted development), you are not allowed to install one if you already have a heat pump.

That seems like a bonkers rule 

What if I install the wind turbine first, and then the heat pump.

Bizarre that as the heat pump needs an energy input to make it work, i'd hope that stupid rule would be got rid of fairly quickly

40% solar
13.3% wind

Fossil fuel (gas) is down at only 8.2%

Need a getaroundtuit but they will be on the go a good DIY project and you can get them at a very good price if you know where to go.

But they are good at that scale knocking a few quid of my leccy bill but not a good idea to power the country 24/7.

Indeed thats one thing they did get right and all those alphine foot hills for the Hydro one thing we don't have:(

As such they are the power house of Europe, supply most other european counties inc England...

That's partly because the French system has always been State owned either outright or with the Goverment being the majority shareholder. If they want to build a new reactor, they just find a suitable site and build it.

Being more than twice the size of the UK helps when looking to build nuclear reactors. Fewer NIMBYs per sq km.

We do get a bit of wind, not as constant as Hydro

Being more than twice the size of the UK helps when looking to build nuclear reactors. Fewer NIMBYs per sq km.

If a meltdown happens (Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and Fukushima etc) the fall out can carry far.

Thats just what they do, need a mobile phone mast just build the bloody thing.

I've been round quite a bit of france, hardly any not spots!.
