Edinburgh Strip Clubs - painful to not touch! Any advice or lost cause?

Having ventured back to Scotland after almost two decades living in London .. I was itching to try the strip clubs in Edinburgh.

My experience from the last 10 years or so in London with places like The Old Axe and Rainbow .. touching is pretty standard and a lot of them allowing a lot more to take place including disappearing fingers ..

So imagine my discomfort and pain being brought back to earth visiting a couple of places in Edinburgh. I found myself standing in the middle of the triangle with Baby Dolla , Burke & Hare the 3rd I can’t remember as my back was to it..

I stepped into Baby Dolls feeling positive .. but soon disappointed to see the girls inside , none of which really were attractive to be honest. But just then one walked in from the private dance area and I thought ok let’s do this .. swaggered over and asked for a dance .. She introduced her self as Willow… paid the £40 and sat to dance .. clear instructions NO TOUCH .. not even to graze her hand … and this was reinforced throughout .. and I was finding it very tough and unenjoyable…

I left and tried my luck at Burke and Hare. Walking in … dead zone … 3 punters and 2 girls and it was dead. One of the girls was fairly attractive and stunning body … given only 30 mins to close asked her and we walked up the stair .. sat down and she gave me options .. £20 or dirty forty! Now in London a Dirty forty was actually dirty… so I thought bingo .. handed her £60 and said make it a Filthy Sixty! She said for that we can go to the VIP…

BUT …. Nothing ! Nada ! No tough .. not even shoving her  boobs in my face.


By far most painful and frustrating experience… are all the places like this or are there any hidden gems I should seek out .. I’m here another couple of days and I’d like a bit of fun .. and no I don’t want an escort or similar .. I like the strip club experience

Any ideas ?

The council bosses make the rules for the lap dancing clubs. They have clamped down on them long ago. The article from 2004 below is about Glasgow, but it will be much the same in Edinburgh, I think.

I was through in Edinburgh 2 years ago for a concert, and in my spare time visited some of the clubs

One club I went to, basic dance costs you £40, but very soon the girl brings up some additional touching which she will allow, for £20 - £40

I was offered a VIP dance down stairs, but the girl was looking for £400, ended up haggling with her, and got her down to £200 for the hour.

Not quite the action you get in Ye Olde Axe London, pussy was of-limits, but breast, legs, ass open for play

I believe the owners know whats going on, and would assume, and over look this

Not even the London strip pubs are anything like the Ye Olde Axe these days - the London review thread keeps up to date with what's happening there.

Edinburgh strip pubs are undergoing another review from the council despite the last failed attempt costing I think £150k in legal fees. The comparison with Glasgow isn't quite right however, there the clubs have had licenses extended to 4am and permission has been given to move 7th Heaven to a location close to Central Station. One big difference is that Glasgow is topless, Edinburgh is a full strip.  As for busy times, the pubs in Edinburgh can be quite full but for short times and there could perhaps be 6-8 girls on. You maybe just got a quiet time.

As for the no touching, the girls are currently quite forceful about keeping your mits off their tits. The promise of £400 an hour fun downstairs isn't going to happen.

Anyway, it could be worse, when I visited Cardiff for a conference and sneaked off, it was table dancing only with no physical contact.

London has changed too. I spent many years working in the "City" and Shoreditch was our regular lunchtime or early evening haunt. This was over twenty years ago, before Shoreditch became yuppie and upmarket. Shoreditch hight street was shoe wholesalers and strip pubs, happy days.

I was there a couple of years ago and went into Browns, what a change. The girls used to be chatty and sit with you between turns, I even dated one of them a couple of times. I was much younger and fitter back then. The White Horse has gone I see, it was good for a pint at lunchtime cheap and cheerful with a touch of sleaze.

I gave up on the Edinburgh strip locations years ago they are such a disappointment.

I think it’s a different thing you’re paying for though - It’s the titillation and tease and sometimes bit of a chase you pay for at a lapdancing club. If the girls are good, it can be fun to engage in a bit of banter and try and get an extra dirty dance. You don't know which girls are prepared to push the limits and which not. You know you’re getting fleeced, but I put it in the same category as going to a casino. Set aside what you’re prepared to lose for an evening’s entertainment, and leave credit cards at home.

Have had some great experiences in lapdancing clubs over the years, but have never bothered with the Edinburgh ones as they just look pretty shit
