Author Topic: RING bell cameras & nosey neighbours  (Read 3915 times)

Offline Maak

Just a quick warning. I'm in various FB community pages of my local area. Many nosey neighbours or bored housewives are always posting video clips from their RING cameras to identify any out of the ordinary behaviours.

Protect your identity, always park your car 1 or 2 streets away from the incall, to avoid nosey nieighbours & their Ring/cctv cameras.

Happy punting lads

Parking a little away from the SPs address might be a good idea but I'm not sure how it helps with this particular situation.

You park your car one or two streets away where nosey neighbours or bored housewives might be wondering why strangers are parking in their street and wandering off.

How do you stop the nosey neighbours or bored housewives living close to the SP taking an interest when you arrive on foot as yet another in a procession of gentlemen callers?

Offline myothernameis

On my way into work, and a 20 min walk, and through a new housing scheme, and other buildings.

I have counted 18 ring door cameras, 4 cctv in the housing scheme, 3 cameras at shopping centre.  Approaching traffic lights, and cars waiting for lights to turn green, 4 cars had dashcam's

Sometimes I cycle to work, or maybe into town, and have my own camera, and in Glasgow pass a well known flat used by an agency for escorts, and who knows I might have someone on here on my camera

But in real terms, cameras are every where, so best just to ignore them, and act natural, but if you act un-natural, like looking around, you draw attention to your self

For as long as I have been punting ( 30 years) , there’s been nosey neighbours and cctv. I was visiting a sp in ilford about 8 years ago and I had a very angry Karen get in my face as I was leaving asking what I had been doing in that house to which I answered “ f@cking your mother for cash “ !

I sold something on ebay, and, as it was on my way, offered to deliver it.  When I got there, I found the streets were (mainly) cul de sacs, so I just parked up and walked a couple of streets  to drop it off.  As I re-entered the street where I'd  parked, an angry Karen confronted me , demanding to know if " I'd been to see that filthy tart".

Told her no, explained  what I was doing,  and even showed her the details on ebay.

She apologised, and said the locals were fed up with men parking  up while them visited "that disgusting slut".

Despite much research later I never did identify the filthy slut/tart!

You should have asked for more details.

Sometimes you visit somewhere and you can feel that the neighbours know why you're there. I never park at an SP's venue and always walk in or better still use Uber.  I never give Uber the address I am visiting.  I get them to drop me a few streets away and give the driver some BS story, so I don't bring attention to the SP's location if they are having multiple Ubers arrive each week/day.

Can't see why you should have to explain yourself to her, you should have said " yes I've been to see the slut, fancy joining us for a double next time "  :D

Nosey neighbours or "curtain twitchers" as I like to call them, have probably been around as long as prissies have - just now they've got tech available so they don't even have to get off the sofa to do it. Often their 'observations' are how the BiB find out about brothels, drug dealers etc.
Apart from causing unpleasant confrontations as described, there's f**k all they can do - you're doing nothing wrong as far as the Law is concerned.

Nosey neighbours? Isn't that what Neighbourhood Watch schemes are all about? Looking out and seeing what is going on in your part of the road/street?

That is why many ladies don't see 10 or so guys a day as many on here seem to think they all do, as that amount of "traffic" would attract attention whereas maybe a couple a day is less likely to.

I once has to visit a house in a select up- market area (not for punting, legitimate work stuff).

It was a small cul de sac with maybe 8 large detached houses.i parked  up, careful not to block anyone's driveway or access back to the main road. As I got out of the car, a man, with thick glasses and a clipboard came scurrying over   demanding to know who I was, where I was going and why.

Naturally, I refused to tell him anything.  He stood there furious,  and made copious notes  on something on his clipboard.

He watched me closely as I went to the address i had to visit.  As i left, he pounced  again: " why didn't  you say you were going to Number 4?"

"Because  its  none of your fucking business. "

Quite right too!
I might have been tempted to ask him which house was "the problem" - you may have found a new SP to visit  :D

No, but causing a nuisance is and has recently contributed to the closing of 2 massage parlours in the North West area. See the North West discussion section for details.

A neighbour could point a video camera or install a video door bell acrossing the landing to capture the comings and goings to a premises and then raise a concern with the police and provide the video camera footage as evidence.

People coming and going does not in itself constitute a nuisance and the two parlours in the link you provided were to do with modern slavery. If they want them shut down quickly then anti social behaviour/public nuisance is the quickest way to do it.

Generally people shouldn't use cctv to record what happens on other people's properties. Applies to Ring doorbells too.

But if you happen to live in a flat and share you landing with 3 or 4 other flats and have a ring doorbell it'll probably be set off by visitors to your neighbours.  You may spot that there seem to be a lot of coming and goings from your neighbour and clock that they're all men and don't stay very long.

None.
What point are you trying to make then? Even the post about CCTV is not right, there's nothing to stop you recording to protect your own property and if that happens to include some of the neighbour's property then there's no law against that, provided it isn't trained on bedroom windows and the like.

I added the bit about CCTV to show that it isn't illegal to have CCTV or doorbell cameras overlooking neighbour's property so the camera isn't illegal nor is the neighbour having visitors.

I still don't know what point you are trying to make about comings and goings from a neighbour's flat.

I didn't say it was illegal. The link to the guidance from the ICO says you shouldn't do it unless you can't avoid it.

I never said it was illegal.

I was just pointing out that the increased use of these doorbells may highlight certain things happening at premises and that may result in neighbours raising such behaviour with the police.  The police are supposedly going to start investigating more low level crimes and neighbours may get the wrong end of the stick and identify some of the quick comings and goings as drug dealing or other activities and yes, I know escorting isn't illegal.

Perhaps

However, I once visited an SP who told me on the way out that she had planned to spend a week at her venue but she would be leaving after 1 day because "it wasn't a good place to use" as her neighbours were being nosey and asking her visitors where they were going and I noticed one had a ring door bell which would be recording everyone visiting her.

Like I said, paranoid. She realised it wasn't a good place and rectified the situation.

To really worry you I should mention that at some places they record people visiting along with the car reg numbers and post them on facebook.
