Almost certainly the case. A Russian girl I saw in Marbella a couple of years ago (born and raised and with family in Vladivostok) suddenly changed her "nationality" to Ukrainian just after Putin invaded, went back to Russian in the summer and is now saying she is Polish. Equally I have seen several East European girls (one Ukrainian and two Bulgarians) who pass themselves off as Russian when it suits as Russian girls are more sought after on the Costa.
