Author Topic: Pattaya or Patong for the World Cup?  (Read 2103 times)

Hi All,

So I’m planning to spend the knock-out stages of the World Cup and Christmas / New Year in Thailand S a bit of a late 40th birthday present to myself (delayed a year because of Covid).

I’ve spent time in Phuket before (pre covid) but more from a fitness training perspective so my priorities were a little different.

Looking for some advice on the pros and cons of Patong vs Pattaya from those that know better than me.

My intent would largely be to chill during the day and out in the evenings to watch the football somewhere with a female companion or two. (Kind of a fantasy to have a 3some with 2 girls)

My initial thought was to try and find a complete apartment / villa or larger suite in a hotel/resort as I’ll be spending a few weeks.

Probably the main difference is you’ll notice is Patong is a bit more expensive than Pattaya for most things.

Pattaya focuses more on the girlie nightlife and there is more of it, Patong has more wider tourist stuff to do than simply nightlife.

Because Pattaya is cheaper the clientele reflects that and there is a bit more scum knocking about.

If your going to mainly fuck girls I’d say Pattaya, if you want a more rounded holiday I’d go for Patong. That said a week or two in each wouldn’t necessarily be a bad idea if you don’t mind moving.

Agree with this entirely. Especially the bit about Pattaya attracting wrong 'uns. There are a lot of them there at the moment (just spent 10 days there in late May/early June).

When you say wrong-uns, could you elaborate more? I’m planning a visit in Nov/Dec.

What StickItIn said and also, Pattaya is attracting a lot of foreign tourists from neighbouring countries at the moment (others put off by Thai Pass, China not allowing anyone out etc.) that have no manners in anything. They're loud, rude, irritating as f*ck and just generally unpleasant to be around. And they're everywhere.

But if you go in November you're hitting peak season and so hopefully you'd some of them.

I do like Pattaya - so long as you're careful it's safe, the women can be gorgeous and it's cheap. But you get what you (and others) pay for...

Patong easily. Would also consider Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

Going by some youtube videos I've seen, that's an understatement. I also believe Bangkok has become very expensive.
