Hi all,
I'll most likely be meeting someone there tomorrow.

I've never met anyone in a hotel before. Has anyone been to this particular hotel on a punt? Is it easy to get in? Any questions asked by reception etc?

All I want is to walk straight in without being interrogated

Offline lamboman

I'm not a fan of hotels but have you ever been interrogated when staying in one?
I haven't,the staff are hardly going to know every guest.

Can’t speak about this hotel in particular, but I’ve never had a problem in any hotel. Simply get the floor/room number and get yourself in there.

I can’t speak for everyone however many/most of us that use hotels will use ones that have easy access to floors and rooms and a reception that doesn’t take notice of the comings and going’s. The last thing we want to do is draw attention to ourselves and risk being outed and removed from the hotel.
I hope that gives you some reassurance.

never been there. just walk in act like a guest.
shift changes so staff won't be bothered or too busy.

I would Google layout of foyer to get idea of lift.  couldn't find any useful info other than a concierge desk.  pick up a tourist map and tour guide.  should buy you time to scout lobby and head upstairs  :hi:

hey I have been to this particular hotel, you will have no problem at all. all you need to do is walk through the revolving doors and walk straight to the lift nobody will bother you.

The ground floor is huge - there's a pub/ bar towards the rear that is useful if you arrive early or the WG asks you to wait a bit.
Reception desk is nothing to worry about.

Offline Thepacifist

I’ve been there twice in the past to see two different girls. She should give you instructions of where the lift or stairs are to put you at ease. Don’t even look at reception. You are a guest. Act like you belong.

Offline Micky Boy

I've stayed there and punted there. As you go in, the main lifts are diagonally to your left. There is also a single lift diagonally to your right, which is seldom used. Enjoy!

Within the last four years? It’d be great to know.  ;)

If you have booked the room, then you have nothing to worry, and as for your guest, if asked, its your guest for the day

If your guest has booked the room, then as others have said, just walk straight in and by the desk

I have used this hotel to punt in for years as it is cheap.

Girls can walk straight through reception and either meet you in the bar or go to your room.

Best bet is to be on the phone and mutter "yes your majesty , highess, Prime minister, and seem too important to be disturbed:!...

Had you bothered to post some reviews of your meetings at this hotel this question wouldn't need to be asked.

It is easy to walk into.  Think it’s up a staircase as soon as you enter.

In addition, I think all Brittania hotels are riddled with prostitutes so they couldn’t care less.

I visited a WG here a few years back - had to wait for her in reception as she hadn't checked in yet and I sat there milling around until she arrived while they hoovered etc. (it was midday).  I think they sussed me for a punter anyway but sure enough she arrived with suitcase and caked in make up/designer clobber/strong Italian accent and told me to accompany her to the lift after checking in.  TBF it didn't seem to faze them in any way.

It is a very run down place these days, BA use it for layovers from City Airport so it must be cheap with so many hotels around the airport. I see a flight attendant through CL there sometimes.

Outside of permit hours, you can park very close, but you need to pass the hotel going west, turn left on to Manchester road and park in any of the turnings on your left  :hi:

Agree it’s a bit of a shithole.
Saw a SP there last summer. Reception couldn’t care less..

Offline VladtheImpaleHer

Probably a bit late this feedback. I've seen 3 different girls at this hotel over the last few years. The first time I went there I was questioned by staff and I had to go and sign in. But I didn't have any problems on the other two occasions.

Hope it goes well!

Arrive a bit early. Act normal and plausible. Go to the bar or coffee shop, order something and read a newspaper or magazine. If challenged say you’re waiting for a mate (you won’t be challenged if you dress ok and act normal). Ideally take a seat where you can survey the reception and see the lifts.

Dont hassle the girl to be let up early, but it’s ok to text and say you’ll be a bit early and will wait in bar.

Also, Tripadvisor is a great place to see photos of the interior (reception, lobby, bar, etc.). Gives you a chance to think ahead.

Don't think the staff get paid enough to care ! As you enter head right and the lifts are in the corner .

99 times out of 100, hotels are fine you rarely need to do anything and can just walk up to her door, if its popular you'll just blend in especially now with masks I feel so much more comfortable I'm never taking mine off. But when you have a bad experience it sticks. I don't like hotels now and it's specially because of this one. I was about to see a WG there years ago and while I was in the lift to her floor she called to tell me she was getting kicked out, so as soon as the doors opened I went back down and hurriedly exited. Funnily enough it seems incredibly popular with WGs so it must be fine but that experience never left me.

Offline professorlove

I punted aliegh ashley (I think her name was) there along time ago.
If I remember correctly the lifts are on your left from the entrance. Could be wrong might have had a refurb since.

I always do a little research on Google to see if there are any images of reception/lobby so I have a little idea and can glide past staff without be bothered.  The wg should give some directions for easy access if you ask

She must have caused a big problem, I walked in there Good Friday, in shorts, T and flip flops, no one batted an eyelid. I doubt any tourists book it twice, so they must be grateful of the business.

Yeah who knows, might have been her, might have been an idiot client or just a neighbour who clocked what was happening and complained either way that made my hotel fears real.

Offline Malvolio

It's not the greatest hotel - I think the staff are well aware of the number of WGs that use it, and simply don't care.

I've had one shit punt and one meh punt in there - but on both occasions I just strolled right in.  Pretending to be talking to someone on your phone is always a good tactic if you're nervous.  Make sure calls are set to silent though...

Offline BootsnBunches

Years ago I saw Ashleigh Allen there a few times. She told me they weren’t bothered until members of the public complained and threatened to contact to head office. Being honest, why would they care.  It’s business.

Offline Fuzzyduck

The Britannia is one of the easy ones. As with many things, you just need to go into hotels looking like you belong there. If you look nervous or shifty you'll attract attention. If you don't know where the lifts are, don't wander round looking for them. I just go ask the nearest member of staff.

Offline lovebigboobz

Thank you for all the replies.

It was dead easy. For anyone else visiting first time round, the lifts are to the left as you walk in.

Review to follow shortly...
