Walking, the seafront is a nice route along  Thorpe bay/ shoeburyness here in Essex.

I train at the gym 4 times a week (used to go more), have an active job and walk an hour a couple of times a week. I do a lot of stretching as that’s something vital that many people avoid.

I eat pretty well - loads of protein, decent carbs and try to avoid too much rubbish, especially fat.

I’ve made a lot of progress since going to the gym less.

There’s tons and tons of videos and info online - much of it is contradictory and too specific to the person posting it.

The best advice I can give is to get a PT (as someone else mentioned) and spend just a week or two tracking what you eat - I bet you’ll be absolutely amazed how much of the wrong stuff you eat.

Uni days i was into gym exercising.
After that was 5 a side football that morphed into drinking twice a week.

Skip 15 years, wife, mortgage and kids and i'm on the heavy side.

Got into road cycling (yep a MAMIL) which i still do occasionaly with 20 mile rides.

Joined the gym this year and really enjoy it. Weather can't spoil my running, cycling, rowing and weights

Tend to do cardio first 30 mins and then work certain muscle groups.

Day 1 - legs and core
Day 2 - chest and shoulders
Day 3 - lats, biceps, triceps and core

Repeat

Haven't kicked beer and fast food habit :dash: :dash: :dash:

Sounds like A UKP night out coming up!

You are joking perhaps.

Quote from: our much beloved and rather sensible UKP rules
19 Social meets
None will be sanctioned by the admin and not allowed to be organized on the forums. Use the PM facility instead to organize such meetups.

In the early days one or two long time trusted members met up, mostly one to one. But it is not something to undertake lightly. It’s a mixing of internet and real world that can come with all sorts of potential hazards. On the other hand if you happen to meet a work buddy in the waiting room of your local sauna or at an orgy that’s entirely different and you can work out the “story” between you there and then.

On here there is something in common but even as drinking buddies most of us live in worlds apart outside.

I appreciate everyone is after something different, and all our bodies are different, but there’s a lot of research that shows best to do the cardio after resistance training - the main benefit being it may actually allow targeted fat loss (I’m not suggesting you’re fat, obviously).

Do you have some link for that?

My understanding is that cardio and resistance both have different benefits but my instinct would be that it makes sense to warm up with cardio before doing resistance.

I've always been told it`s better to warm up with walking then running, or cycling and just stuck with it.
Then do resistance/weights followed by a warm down.

No idea if it`s "the right" way  :unknown:

Well I cycle to the gym, kills two birds with one stone. I can't stand cardio or warming up so peddling there works great for me.... get in, bash out some sets and peddle home again. Only thing is I can't do much leg stuff at the gym cos I need them to get me home afterwards. Doesn't bother me really, I'd be the sort who'd skip leg day anyway.
Frankly at my age these workouts are more about trying to stop general sag and seizing up. Long given up any hope of being an adonis or adorning cover of Mens Health.

I do some cardio prior to weights, partly for warmup, partly for mindset.
My understanding is that you are best to avoid intense cardio on weight training days, and do it on the days between... This allows more energy to be put into the lifts.
Though it is advantageous to do it on non gym days as it will suppress myostatin and for fitness, fat loss etc

I ramble a lot.
Regular tongue exercise is vital to my particular hobby too.
I've perfected the art of weight training and can out weight anybody.
I've also bought a microwave bed and can get eight hours sleep in thirty minutes.
I exercise a lot and can safely say I have not seen a single ghost in this house for years.

Diet is vital to good health and I am on top of this too.
Also I have stopped drinking alcohol.
Or should I say. I stopped drinking alcohol after losing so much weight I could'nt get the fucking top of the litre bottle of whiskey in the cupboard.
