I think they are trialling something similar to 40/20 probably in OZ it would certainly free up space.
This series has been poor but I don't think the rules need wholesale changes,6N and Prem rugby in particular has been great this year.

The 50/22 kick was available to use in Saturdays Bledisloe Cup game between the All Black's and Australia  . A more entertaining game than any of the 3 South Africa v Lions matches

Change the scoring system around - three points for a try, but five for a penalty.  You'd see a lot more tries and a lot less penalties conceded.

It’ll just make the set piece even more important, endless scrums and lineout hoping for a team to have a technical fault.

can't see that working making the one thing we all want to see more of, tries, being worth less than a penalty

a team attacking in the last 10 minutes 6 points behind are given a penalty 30 metres out - are they really going to go for a 3 pointer instead of a 5 pointer..makes no sense

and you are advocating 3 tries being worth less than 2 penalties....

The idea is that teams wouldn't be conceding the penalties in the first place.  I also like the recent idea suggesting of drastically reducing the number of substitutes allowed - more tired players will lead to more gaps appearing.

understand the idea but penalties happen, they are part of the structure of the game, and when they do the incentive to run the ball is diminished with a 5 point penalty on offer.

when penalties still happen as they inevitably will, you are' loading the bases' in favour of taking the 5 point penalty- what incentive is there to go for a 3 point try? Your intent to reduce penalty infringements is there but equally once a penalty is committed you kill the open play option

increase a try to 7 points make the reward greater
