This is basically one of those well-worn  " How long is a piece of string?" questions.   Very difficult to fully quantify, but I would estimate ANY length of string to be longer than any of your reviews.   :hi:

Wear a condom, choose OW. Minimise risks to your acceptable level.

There's a huge risk, if you do it, then most likely you will die of HIV, Syphilis, and other nasty diseases. I suggest you don't see any sex workers and concentrate on passing your GCSE's at school. Leave the punting to us adults.  :D    :P

If he scrubs his tackle with wire wool and Detol afterwards he'll be alright, at least I think that is what it said on the internet when I looked.  :hi:

Can't help but noticing that all of the OPs 7 highly considered posts over his 2 and a half years of membership mention "Diva" or are on a "Diva" thread.  And the one that doesn't asks which site they booked from with a follow up mentioning she's also available on "Diva".

I guess at those prices he can't go wrong.

the std risk is likley low but you still need to get checked out every so often especially if you have an O/H.The greater risk is that you may get COVID,most London prossies probably got it back in March so they are likley asymptomatic now.

Escorts don't want to be ill with an STD and unable to work and/or pass on an STD to their loved ones. Consequently the majority of them will practice safe sex and undergo regular checks at GUM clinics. You could contrast that approach to some random lady you bag off with at the pub/club who gets a bit tipsy and drops her knickers for any Romeo who swings by.

No, there's no risk at all from seeing a SW. Just don't have any type of sex with them.

Bit risky for me is that. I'm playing it safer still by not visiting at all.

Totally unprovable and i hold the opposite view, also totally unprovable that most people, WGs, punters and civvies don't go to the GUM or home test unless they think they have something.

This view you hold of the majority of WGs practicing safe sex and undergoing regular GUM checks is pure fantasy in my opinion.

Checkups at GUM are a bit of an ordeal nowdays,it used to be easy,go in and they use a needle for blood.Since most are closed for checkups I did a home test (picking up test at GUM)it now takes about half an hour pricking your fingers to extract enough blood for the test, and its very messy you probably lose more blood than you collect.

The one I used recently is a blood spot test, a lot easier than filling a phial - just press the finger directly onto a circles on a piece of blotting paper then leave to dry.

Data is from 2011 published 2014 but will likely still be valid. Some light bedtime reading.  :D

Some salient points

In 2011, there were 699,645 women who attended GUM clinics in England of whom 2704 were identified as FSWs who in turn made 8411 recorded visits to GUM clinics.
It is possible that some others did not declare their status as FSWs? The study seems to suggest this figure comprises the majority of UK FSW's? I'm not sure it does?

There was no difference between HIV data but incidences of Chlamydia in FSW were twice that of other females and gonorrhoea 3/4 times higher.

There is a lot of data/analysis about UK born and migrant FSW with comparisons. This demographic may have changed since 2011?

The point for me is who knows how accurate the info given is, I don't just blindly believe it and my own unprovable view remains my view.

I got myself all psyched up for the half an hour of stabbing and 'dripping', almost jumped for joy when I unpacked the kit and read the instructions.

Since you apparently haven't punted for your entire 2.5yr UKP membership, perhaps the best way of not catching a STD is to simply carry on your present course?   :D

The other thing to note, is that you'll be walking away with a lot less on you than when you went in, probably to the tune of around £150.

Not STI related but I wasn't jumping for joy when I unpacked the kit I got through the post the other day, it involved a bit of hardsports and a stick.   :vomit:

It's the poor postal workers I feel sorry for, everyone who handles it knows exactly what's in it. At least those in the lab are getting paid to handle it.

In a way it seems somewhat appropriate - speaking for my local postal 'service', I repeatedly get other people's mail, they get mine, stuff gets lobbed through an open fanlight round the back with no note through my door to let me know, or it simply gets left out in the rain around the side of my house.

I would certainly call that a shit postal service .

Yes,this blood sample collection is awful,it takes half an hour of pricking, squeezing and is very messy. They need to hurry up and reopen the GUM clinics properly.

Did you read my post.   :unknown:  I did say "not STI related" my problem would be stopping the bleeding if only I was lucky enough for blood to be required. I thought 'hardsports and a stick' would give it away but obviously not.

Google hardsports and you'll see what was involved.   :hi:

There's one consolation and that's they've changed the way the test is done, the last one I did it was a card with three windows and it had to be smeared on the window then sealed. it had to be done three times on separate days. Now it's just the once with a little container with a stick attached to the lid. They put a note in telling you they don't need much so don't put any extra in.   :D

Yeah for bowel cancer. Worth doing for what it takes.

Offline winkywanky

I literally had this testkit about 6wks ago.

I have a condition (and also the age  :P) which means I'm at a higher risk of bowel cancer than your average person. I see a consultant for a round-the-houses endoscopy every 3yrs in any case, but I got a letter out of the blue a few weeks ago asking if I'd be interested in taking the test. In for a penny, in for a pound, and I said yes!  :)

It's a new thing they're trying out and from memory the prepaid envelope went to a Lab in the Midlands somewhere?

I found the test quite straightforward, the hard bit (no pun intended) was getting a sufficient sample on the end of the little threaded plastic stick which was small enough to go in the neck of the sample phial. I didn't want to be hosing it down after  :scare:  :D.
