But checking the ID is the only way for anybody to know if people from England are there or not ![](https://www.ukpunting.com/Smileys/kolobok/lol.gif)
Really? I thought it was easy to spot if someone was English by the lack of coal dust on his face and not bursting out into hearty song every 20 seconds...........or am I conforming English people to an old fashioned stereotype?

I mean, seriously though, half the Welsh population hasn't got a discernible Welsh accent, especially in the main population centres in the south. So asking for ID a) is the only way to check and b) is the only way to dissuade English with no reasonable cause to be there from travelling into Wales during a period where people are dying from a highly contagious disease.
One that the Welsh assembly are trying to protect their population from.
If you can't get served, you've got less motivation to travel. Simple.
So, yep, they have every right to check - no different to checking your council tax bill when you go to the skip. No ID, no service.
Same on the continent - try checking into a hotel in half the countries over there without a passport.
What does one have to do to convince people of how bloody dangerous this disease is?
Take them by the hand into a respiratory ICU and see people drowning to death as they watch, in their own lung fluids?

I've known TWO previously healthy, relatively young people who've died from it.
This isn't Trumpland.
