Hey everyone, almost weekend...
 
I wanted to get the opinions in on the topic of so many WG's insisting on showing caller ID, or else threatening not to reply.
 
Always wondered, here are some theories.
 
1. They're using an app (like TrueCaller) to get basic info on the incoming number.
 
2. Phone number audit trail in case required later by law for whatever reason in case of an incident.
 
3. To juggle scheduling when receiving multiple incoming inquiries, and each caller calling in multiple times.
 
4. To manage blacklisted numbers. Equally, to manage favorite punters.
 
5. To get 1 more later of skin in the game from the punter? I.e., to be able to text back and forth. To benefit from missed calls, to be able to return those calls via text.
 
Any other reasons?

Could be less chance of a crank caller making multiple calls, or making bookings and not turning up?

I imagine another possible reason is to check the number on SAAFE, much as we punters check their AW number on UKP

So they can recognise and ignore phone pests, timewasters, cranks and psychopaths

Given what they do to make a living even more reason that they don't answer witheld / unknown no's

Edit:  there is some logic to sending the burd a brief text mentioning that you will be in touch & why
In advance of calling
And referencing an Awank message where appropriate
Awank message - where its clear that they log on & are likely to respond [established burds with loadsa pukka F/B]
+ the message has been read
IME this increases responses big-styley
