And I saw the news after that defend the statues demo in central London where one of the loyal footsoldiers took a wazz against the memorial of a murdered policeman as well.  But I don't draw wide conclusions from one-off incidents.

But all the MSM, talk show hosts and the majority of people on social media all did. And all drew the same wrong conclusion.

So you are a much better person than all of those ^ but the problem is, people like you are an extreme minority.

That is true, of people who are genuinely right wing, there are very few of them, and none who post on off topic in my view.

I think the biggest test of right vs left was arguably the lockdowns. The strictest being in extreme socialist left Spain and most liberal, no lockdown, being in also left Sweden. But then on the flip side Sweden bans prostitution, while in Spain its legal or very much tolerated.

The problem with the left is that policies change according to what’s “trending” recently prostitution = human trafficking/ exploitation/ only something vulnerable women do so it gets banned. If tomorrow the news becomes prostitution = independence, great way to make money, it’ll be made legal and men that don’t punt will get shamed.

What was the wrong conclusion drawn about the guy who pissed all over PC Keith Palmer's memorial? :unknown:

I can't get through my skull why so many people are behaving like dicks at the moment with the littering (post-lockdown loosening of inhibitions?) but I don't attach any political significance or reasoning to their behaviour.  I don't see myself as a 'better person', it's more I couldn't live with myself if I saw the coverage of the clean-up effort and knew I'd added to that.  I'd also worry about being seen and fined (though the authorities seem to be nowhere to be seen on this).  It's the same reason I don't hold loud parties until 3am (my neighbours sure as fuck do though).  I wince when white van men throw fag packets out of the window as well but I don't see their cuntish behaviour as reflecting their politics or lack thereof.

I cant think of any right wing governments, some people think putting people in prison for dropping litter means the gov is right wing, its a bit more ideological than that.

Ah yes. 'Personal agenda and prejudice'.

Love it.

Translation: 'I don't agree with you'.

I don't agree with much of what he says.  In fact since you returned I have not agreed with much of what you have said, you used to post some very intelligent stuff but now it is usually intellectually weak and often nonsense.  The post I was answering is clearly factual rubbish, as the old KN would have called out, and hence it was probably driven by a personal agenda.

The post you were quoting wasn't claiming to be factual. You seem to be unable to notice that even though I have specifically highlighted that 'fact' to you.

For example, I could say, I will bet good money you are sitting on your settee right now in your boxers with a laptop on your lap while making these posts. That would not be a factual statement. That would not be a statement even suggesting its factual. It would be a supposition. And yet you've taken it as if I am stating facts.

This forum is getting to be full of people who, instead of arguiing the point, prefer to make personal and derogatory remarks about the poster in question.

If you think something is 'intellectually weak' then explain what you mean, instead of coming out with this 'driven by a personal agenda' nonsense.

What is turning every single off topic post into a diatribe about woke/BLM/Greta other than a "personal agenda"?

Anything less and you're an inconsiderate twat.

And when did it become acceptable to leave all your litter on the seats and floor in the cinema. :unknown:

Threads have a way of wandering around, topic-wise. This is a good thing, not a bad thing. One subject leads to another, and then leads to another, and so on. It's like conversations between friends, or colleagues or in the pub. No-one stands over everyone else and says 'no, you've got to keep talking about football, or tits, or whatever'.

Using words like 'diatribe' and 'agenda' as well as the old favourites of some on here, like 'hijacking', 'dominating' and so on, are not just factually incorrect and inappropriate, but inevitably used as alternatives to challenging the point in question, and having a go at the poster instead. It reminds me of that old quote of Spike Milligan. He said that 'patience' is a word invented by dull buggers who can't think quickly enough.

An 'agenda' is what someone on a sub-committee has, trying to push through a bit of policy. We're just a bunch of dudes saying whatever we feel like on whatever the topic is. None of us have an agenda.

You are backtracking by hiding behind that wording.  It is clear as day what you meant, not only from that post but from the majority of your posts on here. You lump massive parts of population into simplistic groups that you attribute negative characteristics to and then anyone who does not fit your ideal you throw into those groups so you can dismiss them.

You pull back to the same themes again and again, even when threads start out with some utterly different topic.

I am backtracking by using initially words showing I was clearly expressing a supposition? When you posted straight after I said again I was expressing a supposition. You then persist that I was stating facts. So I say a third time I was expressing a supposition. And yet you now say I am backtracking now by saying that....

Funny but I called you out recently for doing exactly that, making a derogatory comment about somebody rather than arguing the point.  People in glass houses........

When you were posting here before I used to enjoy reading your threads, although I often did not agree.  Then I would engage and debate.  Now you just keep on with the same couple of themes and when you branch out it is crackpot thinking like supporting 5G conspiracy theories.

I am not engaged enough with what you are writing to debate why your arguments are intellectually weak but I am happy to let your work speak for itself.  There will be some on here who think you are great, but I suspect that number is reducing.

Here is two example sentences trying to express the same point.

1. Yes, small-minded people always like to take issues onto the same talking points.

2. You're a thick cunt you that always talks crap.

Both are saying effectively the same thing. In two totally different ways of saying it. And yet somehow, it seems, some people of this forum think both statements are in exactly the same league. (and usually, its because those people like to say the second line to people they disagree with).

You are STILL making this personal. And it's bizarre you bring up the 5G thing, which I did NOT support.

I'm always hoping for some grown-up conversation on here, but increasingly, discourse on here goes like this:

Poster A: I think 'x' about 'y'.

Poster B: (take your pick from:) You have a personal agenda. You're an extremist. I am not engaging with you. This is supposed to be a punting forum. You are hijacking this thread. You're an old git. You don't know what you're on about. etc etc etc

Poster C: Poster B, you left out the fact that Poster A hasn't posted a review for five years.

At the time of day I go to the cinema, and with the films I see, it rarely happens around me. Because most people are around my age.

On the occasions when there are teenagers nearby, left to their own devices they talk all the way through, look on their phones constantly and leave a load of shit behind them.

I just tell them off now. My first comment will be 'please, would you mind not doing that' (whatever they're doing) and if I get any lip back or they ignore a polite second request, I tell them I'm going to get the manager...and I do.

In 1986 Thatcher returned from a visit to Israel and complained about all the rubbish on British streets, unlike Israel.
That was 34 years ago, I would suggest leaving litter was around since at least the mid 1980s, so it’s not young people to blame its people 50+ who started it.

You can blame yourself then, because I never dropped or left behind litter when I was younger, I had it drilled into me: if you can't dispose of your litter properly when you're out, take it home with you  :hi:.

I don’t drop litter and my pet hate is people who drop cigarettes.
What I was pointing out is it’s not just young people, but has been going on for years. Every generation will have people who drop litter and people that don’t, it’s not about age but responsibility.

I politely told a carful of lads to not chuck their litter on the floor at a Maccy D's a couple of year's ago.

They were right next to a bin and probably could've put it in comfortably. But instead they threw it on the floor.
And all I got for my trouble was a load of abuse and threatening behaviour.

I absolutely despair of some people.  :unknown:

I don’t go to McDonalds but I have to drive past the McDonalds car park to go to a favourite shop of mine, the McDonalds car park is always full of rubbish, is it to do with the type of clientele they have?

I was waking down the street and this female chucked a cigarette out of the passenger window of a 4x4 at the lights, I asked her to pick it up, she just looked at me with disgust. Her middle age driver just grunted at me. So I picked up the lit cigarette and chucked back through the window, and carried on walking.

So people don’t feel safe enough to return to work or send their kids to school but they’re happy to pack themselves onto Bournemouth beach in the hot weather causing a major incident. A lot seem to think it’s  bank holiday. Bloody teacher next door said not safe to go to school but she’s taken her two to Bournemouth today! Either stay in or get back to work!

So? Who are you her father? Mind your own business before judging what other people do in their own time that has nothing to do with you.

Obviously the hypocrisy here is just wrong and is a decent anecdote of the problem.  Fair point

Absolutely.  Far too much judging of other people's business going on, especially now.

I don't disagree with the thrust of this, either - although we begin to enter dangerous territory here.

I'm not interested in debating the virus aspect except to say there is a corona state of mind that is fearful, vindictive, illogical and selfish that is very prevalent right now.

What I find interesting is that the ethos of this thread seems to be 'let's have an argument, it doesn't matter about what'.
