Hi folks, just wanted to know what you think about the coronavirus and punting, do yous think its all over the top with it hitting uk or do yous think its a risk and punting can put you more at risk? Only asking as i find myself feeling abit cautious who i come in contact with these days since all the news about the virus.

I’ve seen some reports that there’s a scare in Kenton today on this virus. Chinese family who have been on holiday for a few weeks and landed back.

Maybe avoid that punting area if your worried

I know there’s a main thread for this just thought I’d stick it on back of this post as it’s “local news”

There are 30 or so in self isolation in Ashington after returning from a ski trip at half term.

We are issuing guidelines on Monday to our ladies and we have plans in place if/ when it escalates.

Just remember - it has a very similar profile to flu except for those vulnerable with compromised immunity, and essentially it’s typical flu prevention measures and practising good personal hygiene. We are issuing our ladies with prochlor ( anti viral) wipes for door handles etc.

Gents - if you feel under the weather please don’t book a lady. Likewise if you visit a lady and they have the sniffles make a judgement call.

Oh FFS... Calm the fuck down.

Currently governments are trying to slow the spread, so the volume of patients is manageable by the health services.  They are trying to get us into warmer weather where viruses such as corona will struggle to  survive outside the human body.

They are also trying to buy time for more to be learned about the virus in the hope that a vaccine can be developed to protect those in vulnerable groups.

The fact is that there's nothing anyone can really do to stop the virus getting out into the general population. It'll happen. Get used to the idea. Take precautionary measures like washing properly but let's not panic about it.

Once again, there's a thread running about this and it's been made very clear on there that any posts have to be about punting and this issue, not general off topic comments.

It's been deleted because members wouldn't heed the warnings about keeping it punting related and not turning it into off topic chat.

At least you'd not have much difficulty in explaining this one to the missus....
