I've seen the odd comment on UKP about escort innumeracy – but I reckon this girl's haphazard arithmetic takes her straight to the top of the class:

Half an hour:  £80.  Fair enough.
Hour:  £100.  Very good value.  The second half-hour is only another £20.  Hurrah!
Hour ad a half: £180.  The third half-hour is an extra £80.  Crazy.
Two Hours:  £200.  The fourth half-hour is again £20.  Result!
Three Hours:  £300.  So the next two half-hour "steps" are £50 each.  Hmm.

Don’t see the problem.
Same as Pubs, half’s cost more,
More washing up to be done :drinks:

A lot of them set their prices to attract the length of booking the prefer.

Offline GingerNuts

The result may be a bit odd but the arithmetic is spot on.

1½ hours is the sum of the fee for one hour (£100) and 30 minutes (£80).

Two and three hours are multiples of the one hour fee.

This one’s pricing is bonkers...

Even allowing for the fact she mightn’t have spotted 90 minutes was the next step up from an hour it still makes no sense...

Yes, that one really is bonkers.

But with an arse like that she's hoping you won't notice she failed GCSE Maths abysmally  :D.

It seems fine. You need to look at it from a different perspective. It's basically the "first" 30 min costs more than the "second" 30 min of an hour. It's done so as an incentive to book for a full hour rather than just another half an hour as it provides a better perceived value. If you were to book her for 2.5 hours you wouldn't be paying 250, but rather 280 because her original price for 30 min, which is 80 quid, would apply for those 30 mins past 2 hour mark as it's a "new hour".

If anything she's smart doing that.

  Quality. Maybe it's because said damsel doesn't realise that half an hour is in fact half an hour. Or perhaps 80 is half of 100?

Offline webpunter

Whether i go for 1/2 or the hour depends on the burd & pricing
Usually the hour
If the pricing split is attractive i will aim for 45 mins
Especially on 1st visit
1/2 hour a bit short a bit of a rush but an hour could see money down the drain
In which case i aim for 45 mins
So if £60 for 30 & £100 for the hour this becomes £80
Whilst the burds can work out that 80 is half way between 60 & 100 they can't seem to translate this to their timings
Most 45 min bookings have edged towards the hour & have never been shorter
Add in the usual stuff like don't be late & arrive in good time
Easy-peasy

I would tend to disagree, a half (of beer) is a 'thing'. Therefore the plural would be halfs IMO.

But certainly not with an apostrophe

What’s an apostrophe? They just appear  :unknown:

Yeah, whatever, perhaps I “shudda” listened in class instead of looking up skirts, but “wear” is the fun in that? Wouldn’t change a thing :D

Some WGs put little thought into their rates above an hour, so what they put for 2 or 3 hours isn't necessarily what they would stick to as I know when haggling with regulars. I haggle on bookings of over 2 hours which in my case means 3 hours on occasion 4 hours. The price most certainly isn't always the price in punting dependent on the WG as ever.

I have seen rates that make no sense at all but it is true to say some price them in the hope of attracting punters to book what suits the WG. If I was a 1 popper I would probably do half hour punts but I am not so my minimum is an hour. And its usually the case most WGs half hour rate isn't exactly half her hour rate, this is to encourage punters to book an hour not half hour obviously. So for me a good hours punt is better VFM to me than a good half hour punt where I cant do what I want to do in the time.

So for some WGs there is A method to their pricing which maybe only they know.

A thing as opposed to what? If anything a half (pint) of beer is a quantity, but makes no difference.

Half halves

I've seen much worse. Pound per hour rates are 160, 100, 120, 100 and 100 respectively. So only the third one slightly defies logic.

In this case too, there is just one seriously irrational figure. Per hour : £ 200,160 120, 160, 140, 133, 125 respectively. The hourly figure should have been £160
