Author Topic: These home testing kits - can you give them false personal information ?  (Read 578 times)

Sorry, I realise STI banter isn’t everyone’s favourite chat. However, my favourite walk up GUM appears to have closed, and other sensible options seem to only want to see you if you have symptoms, and refer you to get a home kit.

So, I’m considering one of these home kits for my regular screen. ‘Let’s get checked’ I was thinking - maybe via Amazon so hopefully as discreet as possible.

On the ‘patient information card’ for return I was planning on using my GUM clinic name / address and punting phone number. Then AW throwaway email for the results.

Am I missing anything ?

Would ordering the kit to my home address using my real name cause issues when sending samples in?  Better to send to my office ?

Any feedback from anyone who has successfully anonymously used these kits welcomed.

I order mine free in shropshire. I use my real name - use my punting phone number. They don't ask for an email address. (they send you an authorisation text + a text to say received and then text the results).
I have it sent to my kind sister's address.

If you use Amazon you can have it sent to a collection locker.
Many newsagents and shopping malls have them and you can select the location.

Thanks folks - I’m less worried about delivery and more interested about the personal information you need to give them to retrieve results.

Anyone able to confirm if I can use a fake name on the form?

I don't see why you can't, however it may raise an eyebrow or cause a mix up with the postman (if he is a regular postman for you) if being delivered to your door and has someone else's name on it.  Equally if you're having it delivered to a drop-off site (local newsagent etc.) they may ask for ID and it won't match if you put a false name.

My local gum clinic now only do home testing kits unless you have symptoms.  I get a kit every few months, false name, punting number delivered to a friends house.  Results text back a few days later.

The only thing I don’t like with these kits from the gum clinic is they only check for a few things so I have paid for the full kit on let’s get checked a couple of times. Same process as above only thing is a nurse phones you to discuss the results which freaked me out the first time.

There was a similar thread a couple of weeks ago after which I decided to go on the website for my local GUM clinic and see if I could have the kit sent to me at work as my Mrs used to be a nurse and I nearly got caught out last time I ordered one. I thought no chance but a week later hey presto it turned up on my desk. Thankfully they changed the "Return to clap clinic if undelivered" label to a PO Box in London (so sometimes they do take notice when you fill in the feedback forms), so I will do that from now on. I always use my real name and punting phone number.
