Author Topic: What would you of done Stoke???  (Read 1121 times)

I have posted this in general area too but as I'm in West Midlands I thought I would post here too. Sorry if I shouldn't. Delete if needs be.

Hi everyone. I am Just home from an unsuccessful punt and I want to know if others would of dealt with this the same way?

So this morning I decided I fancied a punt.  Open up the AW search and see who is working today

I see a girl based in Stoke that I have been wanting to meet for a while but schedules never matched up before. So at about 11.30am I call and we organise a meet for 1.30

I send an AW booking request and she sends me a text with location details and reconfirmed cost

All good so far

I don't do a lot of punting but I do try to follow a routine when doing it.  I try to get to the area instructed about 15minutes early and have a drive around the block to match sure it's all good and I feel comfortable leaving my car where instructed as I do drive a company car

Today this is where the issue started.  I got to the location and could see exactly where instructed to park but I drove past just to get a good look around. I get about 500  meters passed the location and approach a no entry one way stem so I pull over and turnaround and park at the top of the hill.  As I do a local council CCTV Camera van with ANPR parks up on the other side of the road from me.  About 400meters from the location.  This was a straight road and the camera had line of sight down the whole hill.

I sat there for 5 minutes but it looked to me as though the van was going no where.  As mentioned I drive a company car so at this point the punt is not worth the risk of me being seen on CCTV entering a house where possibly a known WG lives after getting out of my company vehicle.

I sent a message to the girl explaining what happened and apologising but telling her I was cancelling

Now she was very annoyed and of course I get it. She probably deals with punters not turning up and sending her a million and one lies about what happened.  So I'm not surprised when I receive a few texts with a load of abuse.  She thinks that the van is far enough away and I'm just making stuff up and no doubt I'll get left a negative review on AW but ultimately I'm not too bothered about that. It's up to her if she doesn't want to believe me and to be honest I can understand  where her scepticism and frustration comes from

Anyway- my question to you all, was I too cautious???? Am I just being a whimp??? Should I have just gone and done the punt anyway so as to not let down the WG??? Or was I right to walk away???

There's plenty of stuff on other forums about prossies taking security precautions, protecting their identity, following their gut instincts etc. Well, the same applies on our side of the fence. If YOU feel that your identity may have been compromised or YOU felt unsure about the situation then it's YOUR call. Yes she might have been pissed off about it but if the boot was on the other foot she wouldn't have thought twice about cancelling.

You have to follow your gut.  I'd have probably parked up a few streets away and walked back to the punt.

BTW ... I never park where I'm told because I don't want a prossie knowing where my car is while I'm with her, its a really easy target for Darren.

It was raining in Stoke today, so you could have just parked well away from the premises, put your hood up on your jacket and stroll in.

Yeah the general opinion on the main forum is I was being a pussy. I get it. Maybe I was over cautious. I’m Just still pretty new to all of this and was curious abouts how others woul Of handled it

I always wear plain clothes that don't stand out. No bright colours, no logos. Plus a jacket with a deep hood. If you are concerned that a premises is being watched nearby, then maybe Thai massage parlors could be your answer. They have a reputable shop front that civvy ladies use.

You’re doing nothing illegal if she is working alone from her own house. Crack on and stop being a pussy.

Yeah you bottled it over nothing.

You saved some money though and can at least spend it on something tangible.

or someone tracing your number to get your address details etc

I'd say you did the right thing but not necessarily for the reason you might think
You're not in any danger from an ANPR van they're after motorists not punters
However since you were rattled by it then you weren't going to enjoy yourself properly, and wouldn't have got the best experience from your money

Yes you contacted her and explained the situation, and she has every right to be pissed off because she's lost a chance to make money at that time, but remember it was a last minute appointment so most likely if you hadn't called then she was going to be sitting on her own anyway

It’s your punt and it’s the way you feel about the whole set up. A big part of the wicked half hour or so is taht you can relax without any niggles in the back of your mind.
I’d have down the same at a first time visit.

Well fuck them then!  This is recreation not military manoeuvres.  It's about having fun and if you're tense you're wasting your money.  It's unfortunate for the girl who didn't earn, but it's not like you booked without intention, just to waste her time.

Put it down to experience, let yourself up and book somebody else.  (Then write a review)

Could you have parked elsewhere and walked? Se could have let the next people know and parked them further away. Doing her a favour in the process.

Any second thoughts, walk, its your life you risk ruining if caught.

You are over thinking everything.  I drive a company van signed.  I've parked it out side of where houses and swingers  clubs.
I always park where WGs tell me
I'm single though.

If you pay private use on your compnau vehicle I cant see it coming back on you even if you get caught .
