Author Topic: Week long punting trip - tadalafil  (Read 2383 times)

Off on a punting week long holiday.  I'm sorry I know this has been covered many times, I'm just a bit mixed up by reading now and need some simple advice...

I'm first to admit I take taladafil/sildenafil for a confidence boost, and I need to address that as with Mrs I have no trouble whatsoever. So I will look at addressing that, but not right now

  • Sildenafil/viagra 25mg gives me awful stuffy/runny nose and headaches, so I avoid
  • Taladafil 5mg an hour before a night out seems to work fine, although can delay popping which I don't mind.
  • I have no other health problems

So just need an easy protocol such as 5mg per day.. sound ok?
Shall I start a day before to get it into my system?

haven't you answered your own question?

I have never taken Taladafil but i do know from reading the many threads on here that guys experiences vary considerably so what works ok for one with no side effects may not work for someone else or will have side effects.

I would read the leaflet that comes with it and do what they say and/or go see my doctor and ask him/her - they have heard it all before and have to keep everything confidential to you so couldn't share it with say your wife/partner

As southcoastpunter has already said, read the label that comes with it and talk to a medical professional.

Purely anecdotally, I take Tadalafil (20mg tablets that I buy online and break in half so I have double the stock) for pre punt insurance and compared with Sildenafil, it's much better as in it doesn't cause me headaches, naseau and other nasty side effects, lasts much longer (in excess of 48 hours personally) and can be taken with food. Of course your mileage may vary hence why you really should go and see your GP if you can.

Speak to your GP, get it on NHS prescription.  None of this messing around ordering online and cutting pills up, wondering if they are genuine etc.  I am on 5mg daily and just get them on repreat every month.  Works a treat for me.

1) 5mg tadalafil per day is a recognised prescription, sometimes for prostate problems in association with other drugs - though I believe 2.5mg is more usual

2) higher daily doses of tadalafil isn't a good idea due to it's slow elimination route from the body. 10 or 20mg on consecutive days can make your blood pressure crash. If you're on beta-blockers or other cardiac drugs, or alpha-blockers for prostate problems then things can get very problematic, especially if combined with the altitude effects of flying

I can't see a GP prescribing anything to give the OP "a confidence boost".

If you’re planning to punt each day then take 20mg every other day  :hi:

Thanks everyone, I’m going to try 5mg per day and see how it goes, I will admit it’s a confidence thing at this point and I need to do something about that. I do like the effects of slowing me popping down and it seems to make me a bit more ‘up for it’. It is prescribed from Superdrug online so I know it’s genuine at least.

Hey mate, sounds like you're all set for a fun week ahead! 😄

If Tadalafil 5mg works well for you without the side effects like stuffy nose or headaches, taking it daily is totally fine for many people. It stays in your system longer than Sildenafil, so doing 5mg a day can help maintain steady levels and avoid that timing pressure before heading out.

Starting a day before an event is a good idea just to ensure it’s well into your system. Plus, since you don’t have any other health issues, that 5mg daily should be smooth sailing.

Also, if you're looking for something more natural or as an additional boost, I’ve found that L-citrulline and L-arginine are great supplements to help with blood flow and overall support. They’re both over the counter and work well alongside the Tadalafil if you're ever looking to experiment with a different combo.

Bit pointless asking on here tbh

Unless we have a qualified Dr posting, none of us are qualfied to give advice and what works for one might not work for another.

+1

Just for reference I have Tadalafil (20mg) on prescription "As Required" from my GP.

I take Cialis, mainly for recreational reasons as I like boost.
3-5mg 1hr before a punt works well even for 48 hrs
If I take it for 2-3 days it seems to multiply and the effects might last for 4-5 days after the last one.
I think it’s brilliant stuff but should knock it on the head until I really need it in a few years!

When I'm on a multi week trip I take 5mg a day and it works really well. Plenty of sleep and low alcohol consumption are equally important for me.
