Right guys, let me answer a few of your questions...

I'm flying to Slovakia first because I've done it twice beforehand and thoroughly enjoyed the trip!
Bristol - Kosice is £8.99 each way at wizzair - check yourself.
I'm flexible and haven't booked tickets yet but might fly back from Kyiv as i have done 4 times this year.

Obviously the easiest route would Luton to Kiev. I've done this many times.
My misses was Ukrainian. I've been there a lot.
Ukrainians always use trains.. whoever says they don't, knows very little.
I said I'm going for travelling, uzhhorod is a beautiful city and the trains are pretty awesome. First class night sleeper train!

Uzhhorod sounds nice, must be in or near the mountains,  never been that side, just to Kyiv to see van Buuren)), L'viv, Kharkiv, Poltava & Sumy. Everything is nice & cheap for westerners out there, I used to go out fine dining, meal for 2 inc wine just over a tenner))) although there are places in Kyiv,  being a capital city, that try charge capital prices.

It's a long one; but some train rides are quite amazing (whereas airports are generally nondescript).

I think there is (or maybe should be) a slight concern both ways. No offence, but this is a newbie with no punting record, who says he organised trips and on another thread says he's only been twice. Then offers to send his passport info by PM. I can see the carefree logic of it but as long as both sides are aware of the opportunities for scams. (Especially as punting he says is illegal there.) If it were two longstanding forum members I would be less concerned.

In most locations abroad a local SIM card is usually advisable, as calls to local numbers are cheap, basic data plans reasonable, and if you're to call a hooker using a foreign number many will think you're 1000's of miles away, ringing her with your dick in hand.

I have been to the Ukraine for holidays, not punted there. The prices are very low for everything, but since I went prices are going up due to inflation, but still very low. At the time (Winter 2015), Beers on tap were around 25p and the hostel I was at was £4 for a dorm, use of the metro in Kiev was 10p per trip.

Travel by train is a nightmare across the country and from nearby ones like Poland, very slow old fashioned train systems.

I think in reality you will waste a lot of time trying to find a WG unless you are white, and speak Ukrainian. Lots of massage parlours around, sex tourism is well known there, and looked down upon.

For what it matters, I found SA very frustrating and time wasting. For the £50 and time waste there I had nothing except girls expecting to make hundreds and thousands in UK. That Ukraine strategy appears interesting.
