I think there are two possible reasons:

1) It's a front for prostitution.

Plenty More Fish was around here a few years back but was rubbish. Unlike PoF you paid a subscription but the site never had a huge database. When you tried to stop paying all of a sudden your inbox was full of messages from nice looking 20 something women. Yeah right.
