It's been a while that I've wanted to start a thread to share tips and tricks of how to punt or online date without the Mrs. Finding out or at least to reasonably guard oneself from crazy WGs

Obviously you can't protect from everything, the Punting Intelligence Agency probably have whole dossiers on everyone  :unknown:

Anyway here are my top tech tips for punters. Do share yours

1. Use ukpunting.com
2. Use a burner phone with separate number or dual SIM phone. Phone numbers make it easy to find you on WhatsApp and social media
3. If using Android, get Nova Launcher Prime to hide and rename apps
4. If using Android, get App Lock and protect your content and settings
5. On Android, use Hide App to clone things like Tinder and WhatsApp
Note - both hide app and app lock can be disguised by themselves. Recommend calculator and spirit level and the hide with Nova

6. Save numbers under fake names with a UKP company tag or similar to make them easy to find
7. Always tick "dislikes bareback" on Adultwork
8. Use a nick name
9. Perform Google image search if no ukp data found
10. If it says Brazilian or Italian or Portugues or Romanian, approach with caution - probably Brazilian
11. On android be sure to clear your recent apps and history on play Store
12. Use contactless and cash to avoid keeping personal cards on you
13. Have find my iPhone or Android on your device to wipe if lost or track if you can - note phone must be on and have data or WiFi
14. I've found Vodafone daily unlimited pay as you go plan the best
15. Have a separate Apple or Google Id for punting phones
16. Use telegram or signal or turn on destructive messages on WhatsApp
17. Use duckduckgo browser - fire mode makes like effortless when you browse and want to clear
18. Use alternate android profiles
19. iPhones offer limited options so better to have spare one for punting
20. Use mail.com for email
21. Edison mail lets you use fingerprint or face etc to unlock
22. Turn off data if you using your real phone to go to punt location - you won't be suggested to others you cross paths with .. this is regarding social media
23. Turn off lock screen notifications
24. Turn of notification previews
25. Never keep the same name on Ukp and AW - different names for different sites
26. Read this forum's linked wiki
27. Stick to mobile rather than PC
28. Don't sync across devices with punting phone

Look forward to hearing other top tips from punters

Offline GTEXPERIMENTS

Excellent advice.

Just adding my two cents with iPhone. While I keep a separate punting phone, I change three specific settings on my iPhones when enroute to a punt.

1. Disable notifications
2. Disable “Allow access when locked” under Face ID and Passcode
3. Disable location

I turn these back on when I have reached a location that’s “typical”  for me.

Over time, most punters develop a sixth sense for certain profiles - for me I won’t try any Brazilian, Romanian or Hungarian provider unless I am 100% certain based on UKP research. I find myself more willing to chance it with Polish providers, and tend to have greater trust with providers who prefer to see 30/35+ year old punters. But that is just me.

Some great, practical tips in there.
Have you considered turning this into a guide to host permanently on the site, maybe in the Announcement section?
Maybe approach admin about it?
 :hi:

Offline disco

all good tips, also, the hushed app (both android and iphone) is a great alternative to a punting phone.
Also, I use firefox focus as browser - natively private.

I actually tend to use both hushed and focus for pretty much all comms. I do not like big brother to keep an eye on what I am doing. Punting or not.

I am settling on Hushed over a punting phone.
Download the app.  Arrange by SMS then remember to delete Hushed when you have done.
Seems like the cleanest way.

Offline Jeffers77

Some great ones there JeezyUK.

My best one is to use an app called "Shelter" on Android.

It creates a "work" profile which you can turn on and off. The profile is effectively a whole new virtual machine of your Android device - separate apps, separate file system etc.

Within this work profile you can install the apps you want (eg contacts), whatsapp (linked to your punting number), a browser, whatever you like (make sure you link Google play to a different account to your personal one of course).

On top of that you can "freeze" apps you want so if you forgot to lock your work profile, at the click of a button all the designated auto freeze apps, disappear.

The one flaw in the system is SMS's, you cant install this app in the work profile, but I just archive the SMS's (which I send using a second number as is a dual sim phone).

I used to use CloudSim instead of a second sim - allows you to text and call within the app, I just got bored of topping it up all the time - pretty clean solution too though.

There's a sticky at the top of the main discussion page that links to all things punting that is the punting wiki.

Great insight but I wanted to make a space where we can discuss current software. I really appreciate punting wiki but it’s hard to discuss. This is more of a knowledge sharing thread to improve what we have on UKP and to educate others. I’m not trying to deviate etc just trying to create a conversational and updateable area

Ive accepted that there’s no way to stay totally private and I’m not ashamed of what I’ve done in life. I try to help others and I try to make all working women feel comfortable and I try to follow the knowledge sharing processes others have set out

I think you just have to accept that in life you are vulnerable but you can take steps to protect against malicious people but genuine people etc won’t go fishing for you and you can feel safe in a community like ukp

I made peace with life finding out what we do. I don’t harm anyone etc and I try to help always so I can die in peace

Great advice OP....my checklist is much smaller

Punting phone
False name to SP
Never park in eyeshot of SP's address
No personal info discussed ever with SP

Much the same as Fac51, except, if we have a chat afterwards, they won't be getting much of the truth...

My punting check list
-Punting phone(non android) Tesco £10 which included £10 worth of calls when bought, phone off unless I am phoning.
Social media on other phone and none on punting phone, only use it for phoning and texting SP.
-Different names on AW and UKP
-Cash only
-Never park my car within view of SP flat, turn up early and do a walk past of building to make sure looks ok.
-Only carry cash, car key( no house keys) and punting phone to meet, that’s all.
-After punt walk past my car then double back to make sure not being followed.

This is good. But why a punting phone? Second physical phone for punting increases the security workload which increases the scope for error. I use one phone and download, use and then burn the Hushed app every time.

Also delete your app store search for Hushed after every use, and your app use history (double click start button on iPhone) because that won't delete just because you have deleted the app.

Not worried about a partner, worried about losing my phone with incriminating details on it.

Apart from that, cash, cash, cash.

Offline Mr Doodle

My second phone is a simple Nokia that makes/receives calls and texts.. hasn't got the capability for anything else. Not worried if anyone finds it.

Offline Jimmyredcab

If any of you really feel the need to take all these precautions then maybe you need to find another hobby like stamp collecting or train spotting.

Talk about paranoia on steroids.

My punting phone is not a smart phone same as your phone, I always delete calls and texts after use and switch it off.
Don’t see the need for a smart phone personally.

I just like a smart punting phone because then I can use messengers to chat with others or DM girls

Each to their own. I think we all take our own unique levels of risk

Couple of queries

Can Tesco PAYG be just topped when and if required rather than a set monthly amount?

My regular phone is on vodafone and when not on wifi it seems to block AW and other porn sites, is that the norm?

I just go into Tesco’s shop and buy a £10 top up, seems to be no use by date, just rolls over from month to month. My punting phone is just a basic phone and text phone.

I was replying to joninbristol who wanted a permanent space/link for this info.  Just pointing out it is already there.  You are 100% right punting wiki is totally not for discussion - it is to capture the edited conclusion. So folks don't need to read a multi page thread. For discussion we have this thread.  Carry on.

It would be good if, in a few weeks,  when new ideas settle down, one of you techno-savvy folks could edit this into a new page on the wiki that focus just on tech.  The current page I linked has lots of security tips (not just tech/software).

If you drive to a punt and use the car's sat nav, remember to delete that journey from the "recent trips lists" afterwards.
Ditto with the dashcam footage if you have one of them fitted.
Be mindful of any toll road statements too if you have a fast tag thingy or prepay account.

Offline bedhedred

Does anyone know...

If you put a new sim into an old phone, is there any meta data such as the imei number from the existing handset which gets imprinted in the sms which you send using the new sim?

Offline Garage man

Apart from that, cash, cash, cash.

My mantra is cash cash cash and delete delete delete - as soon as possible.

All contact gone within 5 minutes of a meeting. No post punt texting/ calls. Get rid of all possible evidence ASAP.

More people should familiarise themselves with yandex.com

Easy to save down the image or screen shot it (both can be done on the smartphone). Call up yandex.com in a separate browser tab and find the image. Then click search. If the image comes up many times on international websites then you have uncovered a fake.

I'd say never use an Iphone even one dedicated to punting. It's hard to stop it backing up everything to the cloud although it has proved fairly secure even from LE.

Personally I prefer Android, especially Samsung that have the Knox security layer as in that list and and wiki it goes without saying is try and reduce any similar meta data. Do not EVER email the real you from the punting you. If you use email use a strong encryption one like Proton Mail don't use Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook that don't respect privacy.

If your Android phone supports multiple users create maybe a normal one and  a punting one so that the phone reboots to a normal one that has usual apps and a bland browsing history.

I change SIMS quite regulars again to reduce that aggregation of meta data. This can be a problem when contacting regulars although if you visit the same person regularly you're not being very discreet are you?

I always clear call histories, SMS etc. I do screen shot them to  private imgurs

Offline pewpewpew

I've heard reports on apps sneaking around your numbers when using a dual sim phone. WhatsApp and messenger  for example will associate your 2 numbers so using simB to message a WG may suggest to her that she may know the person using simA which is your real number.

Not from personal experience and don't have a dual sim but just what I have heard on here before

The risks are there, up to the individual how they avoid them especially if you have anything to lose.

Which apps are you referring to? I have been using dual SIM phone for more than 2 years, never had any merging issues. Even have separate WhatsApps for each number. Albeit, one of them is WhatsApp Business.

Even when you clear call and SMS history the information is often still there (depending on the make of phone and  version of Android).
I was asked to recover some "irreplaceable" family photos from a  phone recently that had been deleted by mistake. whilst checking it out, I found it had no visible no call or SMS history.
I did a memory dump of internal and SD card and wasn't particularly surprised to find that along with the photos his call/sms history was available to recover with minimum effort.

I'd generally advise to destroy an old phone rather than selling it.

Could it be possible that all that information was being backed up to Google account? It can be disabled in phone settings. That way you shouldn't be able to recover any information.

It would be a good idea to have a good look at your Google account privacy settings if using an Android phone.

Offline Supersix4

I'd have trouble explaining a 2nd phone when the wife finds it in the car tbh... i'll keep to the one phone. Other tips all valid though, especially regarding personal security when out in often less than safe environments.

Offline JimmySW

For anyone that doesn't want a separate phone I use the "Another Number" app, don't give it access to your contacts (it has a separate directory). I have been using it for sometime and I have never had any issues with data crossing over, you can also change numbers easy enough if required.

Revolut is a virtual debit card although you can have a physical card if you want one and you can create one of card numbers for one time use, just top it up if you need to pay online for something.
