I know that this is USA marketing but it is a very useful supplement, taken twice daily for long term, from Nature's Health Supply in USA but also via Amazon UK but even with import duty an annual supply may be cheaper from USA.

If you haven't had the operation, there shouldn't be a reduction in the amount of semen, i ve had the op, the orgasm is there, but the semen is mainly ejaculated into my bladder, a bit comes out. The good new for you, is that new procedures for enlarged prostates arent so catastrophic , my enjoyment of sex is much reduced, much of the pleasure of a shag was the come shooting up the organ. You start feeling horny again way too soon.

I was prescribed surgery 25 years ago. Using this supplement has saved me from the knife and restored normal functioning. Of course I see my GP from time to time. If worried about the site use Amazon but I never had any problems here, with External Link/Members Only

Has the GP sent you for a PSA blood test ?

They are notoriously unreliable, but are at least an indicator, if your GP hasnt done so he is not taking this seriously and you should see someone else, as has been said above.

Never heard of a C test, PSA is the recognised prostate blood test.

Agreed, never heard of the C test. PSA is the standard one. I myself had prostate concerns a couple of years ago. After being examined by my local quack he discovered it was slightly enlarged. I had the PSA test then saw a urologist and the conclusion was natural enlargement. That said it’s never had any effect on sexual function.

Thanks for comments and Oaktree clarafing PSA , (I said c  as I thought this was test for cancer of prostate) as was told its normal in older men to have this enlargement and resulting lack of flow of semen ( not to mention weaker pee flow and odd dribble argh) gawd,Dr" keep an eye on things"  I am of to see him again in 2 weeks quickest appointment  :scare: I would say I am " pissed "off but the pressure to pee is switched on a bit to often now  :(

The PSA test is a test (albeit vague) for cancer. Normally your GP will do a digit inspection up your bum hole. They’ll be feeling your prostate. A slightly enlarged one if soft is usually not concerning. If they find hard lumps then it’s a different story. Either way they will then send you for a PSA test and then to a urologist. In my case The urologist examined my prostate with her finger then I did a piss pressure test and then a scan of the whole area. Also urine samples were taken. In my case I had mild symptoms that I was happy to live with.

It’s a fact of life that your prostate enlarges as you get older. It basically starts growing around your mid thirties. Obviously some grow more than others. Another thing to bear in mind, natural enlargement is no more prone to prostate cancer than non enlargement.

Enlarged prostate in older men in fairly normal, raised PSA is also fairly normal (i hope you laid off all sexual activity for at least ten days prior to giving blood, recent activity can send the reading through the roof). The enlarged prostate presses on the tube carrying urine which is why the flow gets reduced/restricted. Not sure if it effects semen as well, i didnt think it did, thought that was just the aging process. Good luck with next appointment.

My Great Uncle Jack ate cornflake sandwiches for supper and lived to be 91 and had a full head of hair - doesn't mean that cornflake sandwiches prevent hair-loss  :hi:

I have an enlarged prostrate and take Tamsulosin to improve bladder control. But after six years the medication is becoming less effective and I’m going for further tests. My psa is very low at 0.8 but I’m told this is unreliable for testing for cancer and a finger up the bum will be the next move. I have not found that the enlarged prostate or medication has had an adverse affect on my sexual drive but I have noticed a reduction in the volume of semen released, sometimes even a dry orgasm. I don’t know if if this is due to my condition or just old age.

A serious discussion this and pertinent to me. So let's lighten up.
Middle aged guy was at the doc's with prostate issues and underwent a digital rectal examination. As the pain of it increased, he blurted out 'Doctor, that's not my prostate!'. 'Aye, said the doctor....and that's not my finger!'

I was on tamsulosin, it dulls the intensity of the orgasm.

a prostate exam can be pretty embarassing, especially when the guy realises you are not actually a doctor, (a jimmy carr joke).

A couple of good jokes there but I think no apology is required for regularly returning to the subject of prostrate cancer and this forum is an ideal place. I’m 71 and I suppose the older you get you become more aware of health issues that can strike at anytime. But not just for old guys. Annual checks for an enlarged prostrate are very much recommended and unfortunately the relatively easy psa blood test is not foolproof. I can’t understand guys who will go for STD checks but not get tested for prostrate cancer. GET TESTED.

I'm 51 and in the last year been diagnosed with diabetes type 2
i was put on drugs to help my blood sugars and was told it may affect my sex life
there was a slight dip in the amount of sperm produced but everything continued to work as normal
i then started to take ages to pee a trip to the doctor who checked out my prostate said it was slightly larger than normal and gave me some pills to reduce the size of my prostate prescribing me  tamsulosin ,Finasteride and  Doxazosin and also a blood pressure tablet and referred me to the hospital
a few weeks after starting these drugs things started to go wrong
Struggling to get an erection not ejaculating even when having a wank
i lose erection and any feeling and its really got me down
ive had the camera down to check my bladder
i seemingly have a lazy bladder which doesn't empty itself hence the dribbling
I have another appointment at the end of this month to find out why I'm not fully emptying my bladder and also to get my prostate checked
Hopefully my bladder problem will be sorted out and i can get of this medication and get back to some sort of sex life
i don't see escorts too often but usually on or near pay day i "treat" myself
at the moment i don't want to waste up to £100 on nothing happening at my end

Since pissing blood (once) aged 41, I've been having an annual PSA check. 'Boringly normal', says my GP.
Recently had my fave prossie ( you know who you are) do a digital rectal examination of my prostate. She wouldn't know a healthy prostate from a watermelon but, hey, who cares, it was fun!

For the diabetes eat low carb. Read a book Waist Disposal by John Briffa and take his advice.

I had a PSA test and the initial result was 19! I seriously thought that was it, but discovered that even a UTI can raise the PSA. In my late 50s 5 is about the max. An argument with the young female doc to give a weeks antibiotics was won and lo and behold PSA down to 2.5  .  Finger up the rear entrance and prostate was smooth, soft and small. Slight pee probs apparently due to a sensitive bladder. Tamsulosin worked for easy peeing but less ejaculation and irgasm sensitivity. So prefer no pills and push a bit on  the bladder and peeing and decent sex maintained.
Guys dont avoid getting checked. Early detection means far less radical surgery or prospects and if there's a problem, your sex life can be preserved.
There's also a strong school of thought that regular ejaculation keeps things healthy

PSA tests are not really reliable-they can give a high reading when you have cancer but can also give a normal reading and you still can have cancer. I think the C test mentioned above is a PCA3 test. Not available on the Nhs but supposed to be very accurate. I have seen a private gp advertising this test at around £200. A lot of money but who can put a price on peace of mind.

I was 79, a widower, and punting fortnightly - no bladder or sexual problems, but one morning I found I couldn`t pee. I managed to get an emergency appointment with the doctor, he prodded at my stomach and said there must be at least a couple of litres in there and needed a  a tube inserted until I could get a prostate operation; by the time they`d got the tube in there was a full 3 litres came ouit.  I was 6 months with that tube before I could get the operation, so no sex, not even a wank.  After the op (a complete success) I was told that I could still attain orgasm, but that nothing would come out, and at my first punt a few weeks later I found this was correct, and had to explain to the girl because the condom was still empty.  Her reply was "Oh how clever.  All the fun of the fuck and no mess in the vagina".

That was 9 years ago, and I`ve punted regularly since with absolutely problems, although I now have to pee two or three times in the night, but my prostate is slowly regenerating, and recently I have had emissions of a very small quantity of precum.  My doctor says I shall probably need another prostate op at 95 (7 years time) if I`m still "at it" by then - I`m hoping so, but I`m beginning to find the ancillary problems (climbing the stairs, dressing & undressing etc) are beginning to take up more of the appointment than the actual punt itself as well as some restriction in the positions I can adopt.

I tried Tamsulosin for a few months at my doctor`s suggestion, but found they made absolutely difference to my nightly piddling, so gave them up after 6 months.

I'm 63 and had (hereditary) type 2 for over 10 years. All controlled through diet, exercise and tablets. None of the meds have an effect on sexual activity, but the diabetes does. Also, the blood pressure tabs will have a big impact on your erection! Being a diabetic does mean all you have to do is mention this to your doctor and you get viagra or cialis on free prescription.

Offline Chazz

If you're experiencing a pain in the arse after ejaculating, you may have prostatitis, which is a bacterial infection of the prostate. See your GP, who should hopefully be able to sort it out with a heavy-duty course of antibiotics. Hope you get sorted - from experience, this is no fun at all.
