External Link/Members OnlyA West End spa visited by Made In Chelsea stars has been banned from giving massages after two women were allegedly sexually assaulted by a masseur.Chelsea Day Spa, in King’s Road, has had a renewal of its ability to offer massages blocked by councillors after detectives arrested a foreign spa worker. It is alleged the 26-year-old, who the council’s licensing committee heard has been working across the city, assaulted both young women as they received treatment alone on his massage bench. Councillors heard allegations that one woman was assaulted on September 13 before the second alleged attack on November 17.
The hearing was told the salon had breached rules preventing men from giving women massages and vice-versa without a special waiver. The man, who had worked there since March, was not registered as a practitioner with the council, it was said. Scotland Yard officer Inspector Eddie Armstrong told the panel of three councillors the salon’s owners were not “fit and proper” to run the venue.Although the hearing was told the spa’s founder and manager, Faye Fasan, 39, was now complying with the licence conditions, her application to continue massage, sports massage and aromatherapy was blocked.
Committee chairman Charles William, said: “You failed to comply with a very important condition of the licence and although it appears some steps have been taken to amend that situation, we are not satisfied. We feel we have to exclude certain activities.” He allowed the salon to continue providing body wraps, facials, manicures, pedicures, reflexology and nail extensions, under the application for renewal of its special treatments licence.
Ms Fasan, who quit a career in finance before becoming a business analyst for Estée Lauder, set up the salon in 2009. She recorded a beauty advice video with Made In Chelsea star Cheska Hull, who called the spa “the ultimate sanctuary for all girls on the King’s Road”. Stuart Jessop, representing Ms Fasan, said she admitted “mistakes were made”, but “there is evidence of her being a fit and proper person”. She did not respond to requests for comment.
The hearing was told the first alleged victim reported an assault on September 13. This was referred to police in days. The Met gave the salon a crime reference but the worker was not suspended as the spa did not believe the allegation was being taken further by police. After the second allegation, officers arrested a masseur, who is on bail until April. He is banned from the venue and from massage work during the probe.
