Frequently yes that is the case. Treatment of NPD is difficult and complex and the first hurdle is admitting it is actually a problem. I think that this has also been mentioned before. I seriously doubt he has NPD?

I would guess maybe 5% based on an estimated national figure of 1 to 5% of the population and around 2/3 of narcissists are male. NPD rate is probably higher amongst some high profile forum users.

So if you feel you have narcissistic tendencies then presumably all or most of the following criteria describe you?

You lack empathy
You need power and control
You have a grandiose sense of self importance
You are envious of others
You are arrogant
You crave for attention

Also Narcissists suffer with exceedingly low self-esteem, feeling worthless and inadequate and therefore put up a false persona to the outside world. That persona needs to be constantly fed.

As a consequence they have real issues with forming and maintaining relationships.
